Description
At Julius Baer, we celebrate and value the individual qualities you bring, enabling you to be impactful, to be entrepreneurial, to be empowered, and to create value beyond wealth. Let’s shape the future of wealth management together.
The Application Integration Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational excellence of Julius Baer’s global messaging and integration infrastructure. Combining the roles of Integration Specialist and IBM MQ Administrator, the position ensures the reliable, secure, and high-performance exchange of critical financial data across distributed systems. Using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, and IBM MQ MFT, the engineer delivers end-to-end integration solutions—from development and deployment to production support, while upholding stringent requirements for availability, resilience, security, and regulatory compliance within a global financial services environment.YOUR CHALLENGE
- Design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable integration solutions using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), including message routing, transformation (ESQL/XML/JSON), and orchestration of service interactions.
- Install, administer, and optimise IBM MQ queue managers and infrastructure across distributed environments, supporting hub-and-spoke topologies, and cluster architectures.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of messaging systems through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, failover configurations, and disaster recovery testing.
- Secure integrations via TLS/SSL, token and certificate management, channel authentication, and access controls in compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and manage IBM MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT) for automated, auditable, and encrypted file exchanges with internal systems and external counterparties.
- Perform root cause analysis, incident resolution, and performance tuning for production issues; participate in 24/7 on-call support and collaborate with cross-functional teams during critical events.
- Automate routine operations (e.g., configuration, deployment, monitoring) using scripts or tools such as Ansible, Shell, Python, or Perl.
- Adhere to change, release, and configuration management processes; maintain accurate documentation and contribute to audit readiness and risk compliance initiatives
- Ensure appropriate ethical and compliant behaviour within the area of responsibility by clear demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
YOUR PROFILE
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; continuous professional development in integration technologies.
- 8+ years’ experience administering distributed IBM MQ infrastructure, including configuration, queue manager management, clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning in accordance with IBM best practices.
- 6+ years’ experience designing and implementing integration solutions using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) on Linux, including message flow development, ESQL/XSLT/XML/JSON transformations, and REST/SOAP web services.
- In-depth knowledge of IBM MQ MFT for secure, auditable file transfers and automated coordination across internal and external systems.
- Strong understanding of EAI/SOA principles, enterprise integration patterns, and resilient messaging architectures in mission-critical financial environments.
- Proven expertise in security hardening: SSL/TLS, certificate management, authentication, authorisation, encryption, and access control—aligned with regulatory and internal audit requirements.
- Skilled in incident management, root cause analysis, and operational support using diagnostic tools such as MQSC, RFH2Util, MQEdit, QLOAD, and monitoring platforms.
- Proficient in scripting (Shell, Perl, Python) and infrastructure automation using Ansible; drives consistency, efficiency, and repeatability in deployment and operations.
- Well-versed in backup/recovery processes, failover mechanisms, and 24x7 operational support of high-priority messaging systems.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills; able to work independently under pressure and deliver results in dynamic, regulated environments.
- Strong communicator with fluent English (C1); adept at collaborating with global, multicultural teams including developers, architects, operations, and business stakeholders.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and committed to operational integrity, continuous improvement, and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Willingness to participate in 24x7 rotational on-call support for global integration services.
IBM MQ or IBM App Connect Enterprise certification is highly desirable.
