Problem Solver

POSITION SUMMARY
¨ Responsible for leading structured problem-solving activities for internal and external quality issues, ensuring fast containment, root cause validation, and implementation of robust corrective actions. The Problem Solver acts as a key driver in eliminating recurrence through data analysis, advanced quality tools, and cross-functional coordination, ensuring compliance with BorgWarner standards, customer requirements, and IATF 16949.¨

RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Lead problem-solving activities (8D, Shainin/Red X, 5 Why, Ishikawa) for customer complaints and internal issues.

•  Define and implement immediate containment actions (internal, customer, firewall, sorting).

•  Validate root cause through data analysis, testing, and correlation studies (leak test, CT scan, EOL, etc.).

•  Ensure no escape conditions and verify effectiveness of containment actions.

•  Develop and implement permanent corrective actions (PCA) with cross-functional teams.

•  Track and ensure closure of 8D reports on time and with customer acceptance.

•  Perform data analysis and trend monitoring (Pareto, recurrence, ppm, scrap, warranty).

•  Support and challenge manufacturing and engineering teams in process capability improvements.

•  Lead and participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA), Gemba walks, and verification activities.

•  Validate measurement systems (MSA) and ensure data reliability for decision-making.

•  Support validation of Special Characteristics and Control Plans updates.

•  Work closely with APQP, Launch, and Production teams to prevent recurrence in future programs.

•  Ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented across similar processes (Read Across).

•  Participate in customer calls and provide technical justification and responses to escalations.

•  Support traceability and integration between systems (Leak Test, CT Scan, EOL, Safe Launch).

•  Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements (BMW, Ford, GM, Stellantis).

JOB PROFILE & EXPERIENCE

PROFILE

Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or similar.

• Proficient in English
• 3–5+ years in Quality or Manufacturing (Automotive Tier 1 preferred)
• Proven experience in problem-solving methodologies (8D, Red X, Shainin, DOE)
• Experience with customer complaints and containment strategies

REINFORCED PROFILE (BMW -ALIGNED)

Technical & Quality Expertise

• Strong knowledge of Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC)
• Experience with leak detection systems (Helium, decay, CT Scan) (desirable)
• Data analysis (Excel, Minitab or similar)
• Understanding of traceability systems and production flows
• Knowledge of GD&T
• Familiar with IATF 16949, ISO 9001
• SAP (QM) knowledge desirable

Experience with:

• Complex assemblies (preferably cooling systems)
• Measurement systems & MSA
• Capability analysis & statistical tools

Leadership & Customer Management

• Analytical thinking and structured approach
• Strong sense of urgency and ownership
• Effective communication with internal and external customers
• Ability to challenge and influence cross-functional teams
• Leadership without authority
