The Opportunity

Lesley University is seeking an Assistant Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX, ADA/504 Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Compliance and Contract Management, the Assistant Director will coordinate the University’s efforts to comply with its responsibilities under:

  • Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and any related regulations, including those promulgated thereunder in May 2020

  • Relevant provisions of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

  • Title VI of the Education Amendments of 1972

  • Relevant provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act

  • Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

The Assistant Director will investigate, track, and report allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and other university policy violations involving protected categories. The role will oversee formal and informal resolution processes under the university's nondiscrimination policies, including investigations, supportive measures, and interim safeguards for affected individuals. The Assistant Director will identify trends and patterns, evaluate and enhance policies and procedures, and serve as a subject matter expert on Title IX, ADA/Section 504, and related federal and state compliance requirements. The Assistant Director will also incorporate best practices in equity compliance, investigations, prevention, and response efforts while ensuring the university meets its legal and regulatory obligations, including NCAA requirements related to campus sexual violence.

The Assistant Director will develop and deliver educational programs, training, and resources for students, faculty, and staff on discrimination, harassment, bias prevention, Title IX, ADA/Section 504 compliance, and related topics. The role will provide consultation, advising, and coaching on matters of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice, and will work collaboratively with campus partners to promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning and working environment.

In partnership with university stakeholders, the Assistant Director will review and respond to reported policy violations, provide strategic guidance on the prevention and resolution of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct matters, and support campus-wide initiatives that advance equity and inclusion. The position will serve as a key resource in strengthening institutional compliance, improving response processes, and fostering a culture of accountability and belonging, while performing additional duties as needed to support the university's mission, vision, and values.

Qualities & Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s, JD, or other advanced degree in a field relevant to equal opportunity compliance (preferred)

  • Minimum of five years of related or transferable experience, including demonstrated investigatory experience

  • Working knowledge of student, employee, civil rights, and legal issues facing universities

  • Ability to foster an integrated team approach; Demonstrated capacity to conceptualize, build, and continuously improve effective programs and processes; Demonstrated capacity to implement programs and processes

  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written), organizational, mediation, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students having a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations

  • Ability to implement and monitor administrative systems to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and guidelines

Base Pay Range: $91,454 - $103,925 annually
