Brandeis University seeks to hire an Assistant Director/Sr. Assistant Director in the Center for Careers and Applied Liberal Arts. In this position, you would build and expand a network of employers and alumni on behalf of the Center, developing relationships and partnerships that open doors, including recruitment and experiential learning opportunities, for Brandeis students.
Multiple positions are available. Title and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The hiring range for this position is:
Assistant Director, Employer and Alumni Engagement - $72,900 - $78,300
Sr. Assistant Director, Employer and Alumni Engagement - $80,200 - $86,100
Why this role matters
You'll serve as the primary employer and alumni engagement lead for one or more Brandeis schools, working closely with colleagues across the university to develop engagement strategies aligned with each school's academic strengths and career pathways.
Through proactive outreach, relationship building, and program development, you'll cultivate employer and alumni partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for students. You'll also design and deliver recruiting programs, including industry treks, industry nights, and information sessions, that strengthen employer engagement and raise Brandeis's visibility across key industries and markets.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, thinks strategically about partnerships, and is energized by creating new opportunities through collaboration with employers and alumni.
Job Duties
Employer and Alumni Outreach and Development (50%)
Serve as the primary employer and alumni engagement lead for one or more schools, developing a working knowledge of the assigned school's academic programs, student populations, and career paths
Initiate and deepen relationships with employers and alumni through targeted outreach, expanding strategic partnerships that create opportunities for Brandeis students.
Own a portfolio of priority employer accounts, developing an engagement plan for each that grows the relationship from single touchpoints into sustained, multi-channel partnerships
Serve as a strategic advisor to employers, recommending recruiting approaches, campus engagement options, and timing that fit their hiring needs and improve their results with Brandeis students
Identify and open new industries and geographic markets for Brandeis recruiting, based on student career interests and market analysis
Use Handshake, LinkedIn, and alumni data to identify and prioritize target employers and alumni within the industries most relevant to the assigned school
Travel to employer sites and professional events to build relationships and represent Brandeis
Develop and customize employer outreach materials including presentations, one-pagers, and targeted communications
Programming and Events (35%)
Collaborate with career services colleagues to design and execute the Industry Trek program, connecting students with employers through company visits and alumni engagement.
Plan and execute recruiting-focused programs and events, including industry nights and information sessions, that connect employers and alumni with students
Collaborate with colleagues to design programs and strategies that work across schools
Professional Development and Operations (15%)
Participate in professional development activities relevant to employer relations, including regional events, associations and/or conferences
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all employer and alumni contacts and interactions in Handshake and other tracking systems
Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree required
3-7 years experience required
Experience in employer relations, recruiting or a related field; backgrounds in business development or account management are also welcome; higher education experience is helpful but not required
Demonstrated ability to initiate relationships through proactive outreach and build them into lasting, productive partnerships
Ability to research industries, identify target organizations and tailor outreach strategies to align with institutional and student needs
Comfortable representing Brandeis in person at employer sites, regional events and professional conferences
Strong organizational skills, including consistent use of CRM tools and tracking systems; familiarity with Handshake or similar career management platforms a plus
Clear, professional communicator in writing, by phone and in person
