Role summary:The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems across commercial and industrial facilities. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and performing preventive maintenance to optimize system performance. The Technician collaborates with management and team members to deliver quality service, supports operational needs including on-call duties, and adheres to company policies and standards. Effective communication with customers and adherence to regulatory requirements are essential to this position.
About the team:
The Walmart Refrigeration/HVAC Technician team ensures the efficient operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across multiple facilities. Team members conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs to maintain equipment reliability and safety. They collaborate with management and external partners to support maintenance schedules and regulatory compliance. Applying technical expertise and problem-solving skills, the team upholds Walmart’s operational standards, fostering a dependable environment for associates and customers. Continuous learning and strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols are fundamental priorities within this team.
What you'll do:
- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, reach-ins, and rack systems to minimize downtime.
- Conduct inspections and service activities following OSHA standards and EPA refrigerant handling protocols.
- Lead and mentor field teams, providing technical guidance and promoting safety practices.
- Manage service calls, coordinate with external providers, and maintain accurate documentation and inventory.
- Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
- Strong ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
- Skilled in preventive maintenance to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.
- Ability to lead and mentor team members while communicating technical information clearly to customers.
- Valid driver’s license with safe operation of company vehicles and adherence to safety policies.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
