About the Position: Under direct or general supervision, provides a variety of general clerical support activities to an assigned County department, which may include word processing, data entry and organization, receipt of payments, telephone and counter reception, record keeping, report preparation, and filing. Provides information and assistance to the general public.
Ideal Candidate: Candidates should be comfortable in a professional office environment and be capable of communicating in all environments of customer service. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook is desired. It is preferred that candidates are familiar with areas such as; CW-5 and Medi-Cal reports, Cal Vet Subvention Funding Processes, Outreach Coordination, Knowledge of Military services, Securing Veterans Discharge Records, Service Treatment Records, Marriage, Divorce, and Death Certificates, handling Confidential Materials, facilitate client flows and scheduling appointments, familiar with VBMS and expert with VetPro Data systems.
- Performs a wide variety of clerical work including maintaining accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of information, researching. discrepancies, and recording information based on established regulations and procedures.
- Verifies and reviews forms and reports for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures.
- Respond to and effectively prioritize multiple phone calls and other requests for service.
- Enter and retrieve data from a computer with sufficient speed and accuracy to perform the assigned work.
- Process sensitive and confidential documents.
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
License & Special Requirements:
- A valid California Class C driver’s license or alternative form of transportation may be required for some positions at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate.
