We provide disability and high-intensity supports tailored to each participant's individual needs, preferences and goals. Our Disability Support Workers work closely with participants, families, Registered Nurses and other health professionals to promote safety, dignity, independence and continuity of care.

Current Opportunity – Wyelangta, VIC 3237

We are currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to provide 1:1 high-intensity and complex disability support to a participant in Wyelangta, Victoria 3237.

This opportunity is suited to support workers who are confident working with participants who have complex physical disabilities and high-intensity support needs and who can safely follow participant-specific care plans, clinical instructions and emergency management procedures.

We are particularly interested in workers who are calm, observant and confident in emergency situations and who understand the importance of recognising changes in a participant's condition and escalating concerns appropriately.

The position is offered on a contractual (sole trader/ABN) basis, providing flexibility while being supported by an established nurse-led organisation.

The Role:
Depending on the participant's individual support needs, care plans, worker competencies and required training, responsibilities may include:
  • High-intensity personal care and assistance with daily living.
  • Complex continence support.
  • Enteral feeding and PEG-related support.
  • Mealtime management and implementation of prescribed mealtime plans.
  • Seizure monitoring and implementation of seizure management plans.
  • Respiratory support.
  • Oral suctioning where required.
  • Cough assist and other prescribed respiratory supports.
  • Nebuliser support where required.
  • Positioning and regular repositioning.
  • Pressure care and skin integrity support.
  • Mobility and transfer assistance.
  • Hoist and manual handling support where required.
  • Medication assistance in accordance with the participant's medication plan and worker scope.
  • Monitoring the participant's general wellbeing and recognising changes in presentation.
  • Following individual health, behaviour and emergency management plans.
  • Escalating clinical concerns to the appropriate Registered Nurse, health professional or emergency service.
  • Contacting 000 when required in accordance with emergency procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate support documentation and progress notes.
  • Supporting community access and participation where required.
  • Working collaboratively with the participant, family and broader support team.

All high-intensity supports must be provided in accordance with the participant's individual support plans, required competencies, training and the worker's authorised scope of support.

About You:
We are looking for support workers who are:
  • Experienced in high-intensity or complex disability support.
  • Calm and confident under pressure.
  • Highly observant and attentive to changes in a participant's presentation.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional.
  • Comfortable providing 1:1 support.
  • Able to follow detailed clinical and emergency management plans.
  • Confident responding appropriately during emergencies.
  • Patient, respectful and committed to participant dignity.
  • Comfortable working alongside families, Registered Nurses and other health professionals.
  • Able to work independently while understanding when concerns need to be escalated.
  • Committed to maintaining accurate and professional documentation.

Previous hands-on experience with PEG feeding, seizure management, suctioning, respiratory support, complex personal care, manual handling or other high-intensity supports will be highly regarded.

What You'll Need:
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or an equivalent/relevant qualification.
  • Previous experience providing complex or high-intensity disability support.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
  • Australian working rights.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Reliable and appropriately insured vehicle, given the location of the participant.
  • Australian Business Number (ABN) or willingness to obtain one.
  • A professional, reliable and participant-focused approach.

Relevant High Intensity Support Skills training and demonstrated participant-specific competencies will be highly regarded.
