Job Details

Acquire proficiency in 3D electron microscopy (EM) specimen handling and preparation for data acquisition as well as in setting up the data acquisition using transmission electron microscope (TEM, tilt-angle series) and focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM, slice-and-view workflow). Understand the sample behavior during acquisition and understand the sources of acquisition errors/noises that affect the post-acquisition 3D reconstruction and analysis.

Job Description

Implement and develop software codes used for post-acquisition image stack optimization, distortion corrections and stack alignment. Implement and develop AI/machine learning workflows for 3D reconstructions, automated image segmentations, 3D ultrastructural and geometric analyses from the aligned tomograms. Coordination and supervision of the use of computers of the FIB-SEM lab dedicated to 3D image analysis.

Contribute to 3D-EM projects focusing on the morphometric/geometric analysis of mitochondrial networks, membrane formations and organelle encounters in the brain and other excitable tissues as well as in some select non-excitable tissues for reference. Communicate the methodological advances at conferences and peer-reviewed scientific publication platforms. Manage data sharing and code availability.
