Senior Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster
Seeking an experienced Senior Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster to join a growing team. This position is ideal for someone who values technical accuracy and wants to contribute to a modern, forward-thinking claims environment. You’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality claims experience by managing both first- and third-party bodily injury losses, along with related property damage exposures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret policy coverage based on claim facts and applicable provisions
- Determine liability, including evaluation of comparative negligence scenarios
- Partner with leadership on high-exposure claims, reserve adequacy, and overall claim strategy
- Assess and respond to settlement demands with sound judgment
- Negotiate resolutions with claimants, attorneys, and other involved parties
- Leverage available data and reporting to identify trends and inform claim handling decisions
- Support special initiatives and projects as needed within the claims function
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience handling commercial auto claims, including at least 5 years managing complex injury cases
- Minimum of 3 years working within an insurance carrier environment
- Proven experience managing claims with values up to $1M
- Background in handling litigated files
- Active adjuster license in your home state (or designated home state)
- Ability to obtain a New York adjuster license within the first 90 days
- Strong track record of meeting or exceeding performance metrics such as cycle time and recovery outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated negotiation ability
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to take ownership of results
- Customer-focused mindset with strong accountability
- Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of relevant claims experience
Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years handling commercial transportation claims
- Active New York independent adjuster license
- Experience working in a technology-driven or startup environment
