Job Description:
The Philosophy Department is seeking an instructor for the Fall 2026 term to teach courses such as PHIL 1100 (Introduction to Philosophy: Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy), PHIL 1105 (Biomedical Ethics), and PHIL 3200 (Critical Thinking and Business Ethics). These classes may be held in-person or require online teaching. In future semesters other courses may be offered. More information about these courses can be found here:

The position of Philosophy instructor requires the planning, teaching, and grading of Philosophy courses. Candidates should have substantial experience in teaching first and second year university transfer courses. Please note that instructors are expected to attend all department meetings, contribute to committees, participate actively in program design and review (on an as needed basis), maintain collegial working relationships, engage in the intellectual life of the department, and maintain appropriate office hours to ensure availability for student consultation.

Duties will include:
Preparation and delivery of the curriculum
Maintaining office hours and availability to consult with students
Evaluating student performance
Attending meetings in the Department and College
Required Qualifications:
M.A. in Philosophy (minimum), but PhD preferred
Area of Specialization or Competence in an area of philosophy but Ethics, Biomedical Ethics, Applied Ethics, Epistemology and/or Metaphysics preferred.
Substantial experience in teaching first and second year University-Transfer courses.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Ability to teach both in-person and online classes
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Computer literacy and ability to use/learn to use online teaching platforms such as Brightspace

*September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, with one month preparation time. There is a possibility for renewal upon positive evaluation.
*Please note that the position workload will be based on the departmental budget and operational needs.
