About the Role

Our client is looking for a German-speaking Claims Handler to join their close-knit Global Health team in Cape Town.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or early-career professional who is fluent or highly proficient in German, particularly in reading, writing and comprehension, and who is interested in building a career within the travel and medical insurance industry.

You will assess and manage travel and medical-related claims while providing valuable German language support to the wider team, including assisting with the translation and interpretation of German documentation and claims.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and process travel and medical insurance claims accurately and efficiently.
• Review and interpret German documentation, correspondence and claim information.
• Assist colleagues with German translations when required.
• Read, comprehend and accurately interpret complex German-language claims.
• Ensure claims are handled in line with company procedures and quality standards.
• Escalate complex or technical claims where appropriate.
• Work closely with technical experts and colleagues to resolve queries and ensure accurate outcomes.
• Develop strong knowledge of travel and medical insurance products, processes and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Contribute positively to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Requirements

• B2+ German proficiency or higher, particularly strong written German.
• Strong reading, writing, comprehension and interpretation skills in German.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Matric / Grade 12; relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
• Previous insurance, claims, medical or travel industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
• Comfortable working independently while knowing when to seek guidance.
• Fast learner with a willingness to develop specialist industry knowledge.
• Strong computer literacy.
