Job Description:

Department Overview:

Commercial National Accounts (CNA) is TD's upper mid-market specialized lending team which covers large privately held businesses and small corporates, across all industries on a national basis. The group consists of senior commercial banking professionals who combine specific industry knowledge and extensive deal structuring experience to offer a full suite of customized credit and cash management solutions to meet the complex needs of our clients.

Within CNA, the Financial Institutions Team is a specialized group covering a variety on non-bank financial companies including retail, institution, and alternative asset managers (real estate, infrastructure, PE, etc), broker-dealers, mortgage and leasing companies, public and private REITs and professional services firms.

 

Job Description:

The Director manages a portfolio of accounts in the CNA segment focused on the FI sector including retail, institution, and alternative asset managers (real estate, infrastructure, PE, etc), broker-dealers, mortgage and leasing companies, public and private REITs and professional services firms. The position is supported by a credit management team who support the day-to-day coverage of the portfolio and underwriting of new business. The Director reports to the VP of the Financial Institutions group. Core responsibilities include:

• Effectively lead the day-to-day execution activities of an active portfolio of corporate FI focused clients
• Along with the credit management team, actively managing the internal credit process with the support of analysts/senior analysts
• Developing and executing on a market management, target, and shadow portfolio strategy to grow the number of banking relationships
• Act as a senior member of the FI team, actively mentoring and coaching more junior team members
• Develop policies and expertise for industry specialties
• Act in coordination with TD Securities Investment Banking and Global Markets to ensure appropriate coverage of opportunities and relationships where relationships overlap.
• Developing relationships and ongoing market intelligence regarding other lenders
• Geographic scope: Canada wide but based in Toronto CNA office.

 

Job Requirements:

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

• Undergraduate business degree or related work experience; advance degree or accreditation considered an asset (MBA, CFA, etc)
• FIG and/or real estate corporate or commercial banking experience would be an asset

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Previous experience in Commercial Banking as a Relationship Manager
• Specific experience in the FI space is preferred
• Demonstrated leadership with influencing/negotiating skills across all levels and business partners
• Business development ability (creation and execution of coverage strategy) with focus on measurable results Demonstrated record of successful business development / origination in the upper mid-market / corporate segment
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and interpersonal/networking capabilities
• Strong interpersonal and relationship skills coupled with analytical ability
• Ability to travel as required

 

This role is temporarily eligible for a pay premium above the posted salary range that is reassessed annually. You are encouraged to have an open dialogue with your recruiter who can provide more specific pay details for this role.
