Description of Work

This position is located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, NC Burke County. Foothills Correctional Institution is a close/minimum custody male facility.

This is journeyman level work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. New or unusual work orders are usually accompanied by sketches or blueprints. This position will report to the facility Maintenance Supervisor
.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Electrical Systems: Installs, alters, and repairs wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, and power distribution systems.
• Conduit & Wiring: Measures, cuts, threads, bends, and installs conduit, and pulls wire through existing conduit systems.
• Equipment & Lighting:
• Troubleshooting & Repair
• Institutional & Safety Compliance

• Considerable knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade.

About The Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Education Equivalency Verification:

The State of North Carolina/Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) uses the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) as a referral resource for applicants who need to have their credentials certified as equivalent.

Veterans’ and National Guard Preference:

  • Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Member-4 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to their applications.
