As a multi-discipline firm, Isett provides a full range of engineering and consulting services, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. 

Our Environmental Department is seeking a motivated Staff Geologist to support a wide variety of public and private sector projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on environmental investigations, geotechnical explorations, construction observation, site redevelopment, due diligence, and permitting assignments across multiple markets.

The ideal candidate enjoys a balance of field and office work, possesses strong technical and communication skills, and is eager to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional results to our clients.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting geotechnical field investigations, including soil and rock logging, drilling oversight, and subsurface exploration.
• Performing environmental site assessments, site investigations, and remediation support activities.
• Collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, and other environmental samples in accordance with established protocols.
• Preparing field documentation, boring logs, site sketches, and technical summaries.
• Supporting geotechnical analyses and preparing engineering reports with recommendations for foundations, earthwork, and site development.
• Assisting with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance projects.
• Coordinating laboratory testing and evaluating geotechnical and environmental data.
• Providing construction observation and field oversight during earthwork, remediation, foundation, and environmental projects.
• Assisting with proposal preparation, project budgeting, and client communications.
• Collaborating with environmental scientists, geologists, engineers, surveyors, and construction personnel to support project goals.
• Maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality standards in both office and      field environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Geology, Geological Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 0 to 5+ years of relevant environmental and/or geotechnical consulting experience.
• Fundamentals of Geology (FG) certification or ability to obtain preferred.
• Understanding of geologic principles, subsurface investigations, and environmental sampling methodologies.
• Experience with soil classification, geologic mapping, and technical report preparation preferred.
• Mapping experience using GIS is a plus.
• Familiarity with Pennsylvania DEP regulations and environmental permitting processes is a plus.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technical data management software.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain PA Act 34, 114, and 151 Clearances, as required for certain projects.
