Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Manager Field Engineering Services 1 based out of San Diego, CA.

As a Manager Field Engineering Services 1, you will lead a team of direct reports in various fields of disciplines in support of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mission Package Design, Engineering, Production and Sustainment (DEP&S) Program. This position will be a collateral duty along with the selected candidate’s other assignments.

Reporting directly to the LCS Sustainment IPT lead, the selected candidate will be responsible for daily leadership and supervision of NON-Exempt Northrop Grumman (NG) employees as well as supervising various subcontractor employees assigned to the MMRC San Diego site supporting the operations of the Mission Package Support Facility (MPSF).  A key component of this position will include interfacing with customer counterparts, leadership personnel at other sites, and related worldwide entities.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

  

What You’ll get to Do:

• Lead and develop a team of non-exempt employees at the MPSF, ensuring clear work direction, performance feedback, recognition, and timekeeping oversight.
• Supervise and coordinate onsite subcontractor activities, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, schedule, and contractual requirements.
• Plan and prioritize work to meet contract milestones, ship availability windows, and customer schedules.
• Set clear expectations, hold team members accountable, and provide timely coaching and feedback.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats, including preparing clear presentations that convey initiatives, plans, and expectations to diverse audiences.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and security requirements applicable to LCS Mission Package work at MMRC San Diego.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers, and site leadership, consistently demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
• Champion Northrop Grumman’s Code of Ethics and core values to foster a culture of safety, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance on business processes, best practices, and work standards, and ensure accurate, complete documentation of work performed.
• Develop, track, and report weekly and monthly performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with other departments and sites to ensure broader program needs are understood, communicated, and supported.
• Mentor and coach less experienced team members to build bench strength and support their professional growth.
• Work in an industrial/shipyard environment (climb ladders, work in confined spaces, wear PPE) as needed to oversee on-site work.
• Represent the MPSF and LCS Mission Package program professionally with customers and leadership, anticipating roadblocks and advocating for a safe, high performance work environment.
• Escalate issues appropriately and represent the team with senior leadership and the customer.
• Work flexible and changing shift schedules, including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed in support of LCS operations.
• Steadfastly push self and others to achieve deliverables and goals, provide customer overviews, and be an advocate for a safe and professional work environment.
• Effectively communicate in diverse circumstances and anticipate roadblocks in an environment that provides challenging assignments to key talent in the organization.

 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR an additional 4 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
• Demonstrated familiarity with LCS Mission Package operations.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of leadership.
• Must have proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
• Must be available to work any shift.
• Must be willing to travel 10 - 25%.
• U.S. citizenship and an active/current U.S. Government Secret clearance are required. Must have ability to obtain/maintain LCS Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of previous leadership or supervisory experience in a government maintenance or operations/assembly environment.
• Previous experience managing suppliers.
• Demonstrated history leading and management of multi-functional teams.
• Practical working knowledge of LCS Class program.
• Familiarity with electronic work instructions, safety policies and quality procedures.
• Proven experience planning and executing preventative and corrective maintenance availability activities on U.S. Navy ships.
• Practical experience in Navy maintenance to include Ship’s Maintenance and Material Management (3M), Preventive Maintenance, and Corrective Maintenance specifically SKED and MFOM AWN respectively.

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $165,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
