Job Description Summary
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:Responsible for simulating and designing electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects of Power Electronics Converters for various industrial applications. Specify electrical and mechanical components, collaborate closely with the Design Office and Manufacturing teams, and create comprehensive product documentation, including manufacturing and commissioning instructions. Lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and validate low- and medium- voltage power electronics. Design new Voltage Source Inverters (IGBT or SiC) and Thyristor converters (Rectifier LCI), while ensuring high performance and reliability in challenging environments. Develop control algorithms using the P80i software platform. Conduct simulations using tools like MATLAB, SIMULINK, PLECS, and PSPICE. Apply expertise in MW-scale converter design and electrical drives to impact departmental operations and contribute to key planning and execution.

Qualifications / Requirements:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related. Six (6) years of experience in power electronics hardware design, power electronics controls development, or a combination thereof. Employer will accept pre- or post- Master's degree experience. Experience must be post-Bachelor's degree. Work experience to include: Five (5) years of experience in variable frequency drive (VFD) systems to include design, testing, and commissioning; Hardware design experience for power electronics systems to include: calculations, modeling, and component selection; Engineering modeling and simulation tools to include: MATLAB, Simulink, and PLECS, for power electronics converter design and control algorithm validation; End-to-end project execution lifecycle including: bidding, design, engineering, commissioning, and after-sales service; Project management to include: scheduling, milestone tracking, risk management, and resource allocation; Lean methodologies to optimize product designs, minimize waste, enhance quality, and deliver robust customer-focused solutions; and Experience leading junior team members to drive process improvements and talent developments. Any and all experience may be gained concurrently. Approximately 25% domestic/15% international travel required to unanticipated customer sites to complete site surveys, commissioning, and troubleshooting (i.e., requirements, testing, and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) witnessing).
