We are looking for an experienced and motivated Despatch Supervisor to join our operations team and take responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective day-to-day running of our despatch operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead by example, providing visible direction and support to Despatch Team Leaders and colleagues across the operation. You will be responsible for ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, prepared, loaded and dispatched on time, while maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety, quality, productivity and customer service.
You will play a key role in delivering operational plans, achieving agreed KPIs and driving a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Despatch Operations
Manage the daily despatch operation, ensuring orders are prepared and dispatched on time.
Ensure vehicles are loaded safely, correctly and efficiently.
Monitor workflow, deal with delays and resolve operational issues.
Ensure products are handled, secured and dispatched correctly.
Maintain good housekeeping and safe working standards.
Ensure despatch paperwork and system records are completed accurately.
People Leadership
Lead and support Despatch Team Leaders and colleagues.
Allocate people and resources to meet daily requirements.
Ensure colleagues are trained and competent to carry out their roles safely.
Hold regular team briefings and communicate priorities clearly.
Support performance, attendance and conduct management.
Encourage teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
Support colleague development and progression.
Health & Safety
Make Health & Safety a priority across the despatch area.
Ensure company safety procedures and site rules are followed.
Identify and address unsafe working practices and conditions.
Ensure MHE and other equipment is used safely.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe access.
Encourage the reporting of hazards, near misses and incidents.
Support environmental and waste-reduction initiatives.
Service & Performance
Monitor despatch performance against agreed targets and KPIs.
Drive high levels of OTIF, accuracy and customer service.
Monitor productivity, loading and vehicle turnaround times.
Investigate and resolve delays, damages and service issues.
Escalate significant issues to the Despatch Manager.
Support investigations into customer complaints.
Stock & Product Accuracy
Ensure products are picked and dispatched accurately.
Maintain stock accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
Ensure products remain traceable and in good condition.
Identify and report damaged or non-conforming products.
Ensure ERP/WMS systems and scanning processes are used correctly
Continuous Improvement

What You'll Bring
Essential
Previous supervisory or team leader experience in a warehouse, despatch, logistics or manufacturing environment.
Good understanding of warehouse and despatch operations.
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage and motivate a team.
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
Knowledge of MHE and safe loading procedures.
Experience using warehouse, ERP or WMS systems.
Desirable
Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Knowledge of Lean or Continuous Improvement methods such as 5S or Kaizen.
IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification.
Experience working with KPIs and performance data.
Experience working with transport providers or carriers.

Working Hours & Benefits:
£16.09 per hour.
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 12 hour shifts.
