Description
Take the lead on youth basketball game days as a Gym Supervisor – Youth Basketball with the City of Durango. From getting the gym ready for play to coordinating with referees, scorekeepers, coaches, and other staff, you’ll help keep the day organized and games on schedule. You’ll also be the on-site contact for players, families, spectators, officials, and others using the facility. That means answering questions, keeping an eye on activity throughout the gym, and stepping in when something needs attention.

Set up equipment and get the gym ready so games can start on time. Check the gym and equipment before play and address or report safety concerns. Make sure referees, scorekeepers, volunteers, and other staff are ready for their assignments. Coordinate with coaches, referees, and staff to keep games on schedule. Serve as the on-site contact for players, coaches, families, spectators, officials, and other facility users. Monitor the gym and surrounding areas and support a safe and respectful environment. Complete incident or accident reports when needed. Distribute and collect program surveys. Oversee cleanup after games and make sure equipment is put away. Submit your timecard for hours worked.
The ability to read and write at a level needed to perform the job. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or the ability to become certified. Knowledge of basketball is preferred.
Stay organized while keeping track of games, staff, and activity throughout the gym. Are comfortable answering questions and helping people find the information they need. Stay calm and professional when disagreements or concerns come up. Work well with referees, scorekeepers, coaches, volunteers, and recreation staff. Notice safety concerns and other situations that need attention.
