Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Executive Director of the UNLV Alumni Association

ROLE of the POSITION

The Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Executive Director of the UNLV Alumni Association serves as the strategic and operational leader for the university’s comprehensive alumni engagement program within the Division of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (PAE). Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President Development and Principal Gifts, this position is responsible for leading the alumni engagement team, establishing departmental priorities and performance expectations, and ensuring measurable alumni engagement outcomes that advance institutional and divisional goals.

The Senior Director provides leadership and oversight for alumni engagement strategy, alumni participation growth, volunteer leadership development, regional and affinity-based engagement, student-to-alumni transition initiatives, alumni communications coordination, advocacy, and alumni engagement assessment. The position ensures that alumni engagement efforts support institutional priorities, campaign readiness, annual giving growth, philanthropic pipeline development, alumni advocacy, and lifelong affinity with UNLV. The Senior Director oversees the implementation and assessment of the CASE Alumni Engagement Metrics framework, including philanthropic, volunteer, experiential, and communications engagement metrics.

The position is responsible for department-wide engagement reporting, data-informed strategic planning, CRM utilization standards, performance assessment, and alumni engagement benchmarking against peer institutions. The Senior Director supervises the Director of Alumni Engagement, Director of Advocacy, and other assigned staff positions and is accountable for departmental effectiveness, staff development, strategic execution, budget oversight, operational efficiency, and cross-campus collaboration. This position works closely with Development, Annual Giving, Career Services, Admissions, Athletics, colleges and schools, Communications the UNLV Alumni Association, and university leadership including Deans to ensure coordinated and measurable alumni engagement strategies. This position also represents the Division of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement at university, alumni, donor, board and community events as required.

As Executive Director of the UNLV Alumni Association (UNLVAA), this position provides strategic and day-to-day leadership for the Association and serves as the key partner to its Board of Directors, university leadership, and campus partners. Representing a community of more than 160,000 alumni, the Executive Director leads the development and implementation of programs, partnerships, and engagement strategies that strengthen alumni connections to UNLV and raise the visibility of the UNLVAA and the university locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. The Executive Director works closely with volunteer leaders to advance the Association’s strategic priorities, expand alumni participation and volunteerism, strengthen philanthropic engagement and ensure the UNLVAA remains a meaningful lifelong connection between alumni and the university.

BACKGROUND SCREENING

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background screening and /or Credit Check.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in alumni engagement, higher education leadership, or related fields. This position also requires a minimum of 5 years of supervisory and management experience. Demonstrated track record of management and leadership, as well as a progressive level of responsibility within a fast paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of 7-9 years of related experience is preferred. At least seven years of supervisory and management experience is preferred. Master’s degree preferred.

SALARY

The salary range for the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Executive Director of the UNLV Alumni Association is $115,000-$125,000. Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
