Description

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Business Operations Specialist I to support Quantum Space’s leadership team and broader organization through business analysis, market and competitive research, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional operations.

This is an entry-level role for someone who is highly analytical, curious, organized, and eager to develop broad experience at the intersection of business and technology. The role will support projects such as market and competitor research, pricing analysis, M&A and strategic research, business planning, executive reporting, and other special projects, while also helping coordinate key business processes and leadership activities.

The ideal candidate is comfortable researching complex or unfamiliar topics, working with incomplete information, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and translating findings into clear, useful recommendations. You do not need to be an engineer, but you should be interested in technology and able to develop an understanding of technical products, markets, and concepts.

Where You’ll Make an Impact

Business Analysis & Strategic Support

  • Conduct market, competitor, customer, and industry research to support business and executive decision-making
  • Support strategic initiatives including market assessments, pricing and competitive analysis, M&A research, partnership evaluations, and other corporate priorities
  • Gather, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative information from public, internal, and third-party sources
  • Evaluate incomplete or imperfect information, identify relevant assumptions, and develop well-supported conclusions and recommendations
  • Build analyses, models, comparisons, and decision-support tools using Excel and other business applications
  • Synthesize complex business and technical information into concise presentations, reports, and recommendations for senior leadership
  • Research developments across commercial space, national security space, government programs, competitors, customers, and adjacent markets
  • Support ad hoc analyses and special projects requiring independent research, critical thinking, and sound business judgment

Business Operations & Organizational Support

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain business and operational data, trackers, organizational information, and other decision-support resources
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, dashboards, and other materials for leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Support recurring business processes, operational reviews, planning activities, and leadership meetings
  • Partner with business development, finance, engineering, programs, and other teams to gather information and support cross-functional initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, reporting, documentation, and information sharing
  • Maintain organizational charts, team information, business records, and other operational resources as needed

Executive Support & Coordination

  • Prepare research, briefing materials, presentations, and supporting information for executive meetings and business discussions
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, project reviews, customer visits, and other key business activities
  • Prepare meeting materials, document decisions and action items, and coordinate follow-up across stakeholders
  • Support team logistics as needed
  • Maintain Confluence pages, shared resources, and internal documentation
  • Ensure information and business materials are accurate, organized, accessible, and up to date

What It Takes

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, economics, business analytics, project management, aerospace/aviation, spaceflight operations, engineering management, science and technology policy, space policy, national security, international affairs, or a related discipline
  • 1–3 years of experience in business operations, business or market analysis, research, consulting, corporate strategy, project coordination, aerospace/defense, government, or a related field; relevant internships and graduate-level project experience may be considered
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather information from multiple sources, assess its reliability, identify gaps, and develop reasonable conclusions
  • Ability to work with incomplete or imperfect information and clearly communicate assumptions, limitations, and recommendations
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and comfort working with data, calculations, comparisons, charts, and presentations
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and translate technical information into business implications; an engineering background is not required
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in commercial space, aerospace, defense, emerging technology, or government markets
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and know when to seek additional context or guidance
  • Professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential business information
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to support a variety of business and strategic priorities

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience or academic work related to commercial space, aerospace, defense, national security, emerging technology, or government markets
  • Experience conducting market research, competitive intelligence, pricing analysis, financial analysis, due diligence, M&A research, or strategic analysis
  • Experience evaluating technical products, companies, markets, or government programs from a business or policy perspective
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations or communicating research and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Familiarity with government contracting, federal acquisition, space policy, or the commercial space ecosystem
  • Experience supporting engineering, aerospace, defense, technology, or government programs
  • Experience with Confluence or similar collaboration and knowledge-management platforms
  • Exposure to financial modeling, data analysis, Python, SQL, or other analytical tools

What You’ll Get

  • Ownership – Take responsibility for research, analyses, information, and business processes that help leaders and teams make informed decisions
  • Innovation – Help evaluate markets, competitors, technologies, and new opportunities while improving the tools and processes Quantum uses to make business decisions
  • Impact – Work on projects that directly support company leadership, strategic priorities, and Quantum Space’s growth in commercial and government markets
  • Growth – Build broad experience across business operations, market intelligence, strategy, corporate development, project coordination, and the commercial space industry, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility over time
  • Compensation – Competitive salary, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and professional development opportunities
