Our client, a leading global aircraft lessor with a growing engine leasing business, is hiring a VP Technical – Powerplant in Dublin. The role is the technical owner of the engine portfolio: keeping engines healthy, costs under control and the lessor's relationships with engine OEMs and MROs working well. It sits in a recently restructured powerplant team and works closely with lease management, risk, portfolio management and transaction teams.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day technical powerplant activity across the engine portfolio, ensuring compliance with technical lease obligations.
- Oversee engine shop visits: workscope review, maintenance planning, cost validation and progress monitoring.
- Review engine technical records, maintenance status and configuration; monitor reliability, maintenance requirements and technical risk.
- Support aircraft and engine transitions, repossessions, redeliveries and lease returns, including assessments of return conditions and end-of-lease obligations.
- Manage AOG and spare engine activity and develop practical solutions for operational requirements.
- Support technical due diligence on aircraft and engine acquisitions, disposals and financings.
- Build and maintain relationships with engine OEMs, MROs and technical service providers.
- Tender, negotiate and administer engine maintenance agreements and GTAs across the MRO network.
- Prepare technical analysis, reports and recommendations for management decision-making, and keep the business informed on engine technology, OEM programmes and regulatory change.
Experience required
- Engineering honours degree, EASA Part 66 licence or equivalent apprenticeship.
- At least five years in a technical function at an airline, OEM, MRO or lessor.
- Strong knowledge of at least two engine types (CFM, GE, IAE, PW, RR) and their workscope planning guides.
- A track record tendering, negotiating and administering engine MRO GTAs.
- Solid understanding of airworthiness regulations and requirements.
- A direct, confident communicator who can turn complex technical issues into clear recommendations, and who thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment.
