ELECTRICAL PLANNER

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of field experience in the maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance planning within a similar environment, preferably in the Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, or Process Industries.
  • Good knowledge of electrical maintenance tools, equipment, and testing instruments.
  • Good knowledge of applicable international codes, standards, specifications, and practices related to electrical systems and materials.
  • Sound understanding of electrical maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Experience working in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or other process industries.
  • Detailed understanding of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance principles and methodologies.
  • Strong planning, organizational, coordination, and integration skills.
  • Strong analytical, time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of spare parts and inventory management.
  • Experience with SAP/CMMS maintenance management systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.

Job Responsibilities

The Electrical Planner will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting the effective implementation of electrical maintenance activities within the assigned area. The role will contribute to shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance projects in accordance with the maintenance strategy, HSE requirements, and company standards to ensure equipment reliability, integrity, uninterrupted operations, and optimum productivity.

The selected candidate will independently support the Electrical Maintenance team in the following activities:

  • Prepare detailed work orders, including material requirements, spare parts specifications, job planning cards, tools, manpower, and other resources required for electrical preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Coordinate with Electrical Engineers and Maintenance teams for the preparation of weekly maintenance plans, shutdown plans, job planning cards, and schedules.
  • Review work requests and work orders received in the maintenance management system from various plant locations and verify that they are properly prioritized and scheduled based on resource availability.
  • Identify required spare parts for electrical equipment, determine quantities, prepare technical specifications, and ensure availability for direct job execution and inventory stock.
  • Conduct plant/site visits to verify equipment details and prepare equipment and spare parts specifications for the creation and updating of material master data in SAP/CMMS.
  • Prepare scope of work (SOW) and technical documentation for electrical maintenance activities to be outsourced or tendered to contractors.
  • Liaise with Electrical Engineers and relevant departments to conduct technical evaluations of contractor bids for services, supplies, and maintenance contracts.
  • Participate in technical discussions with vendors and contractors to clarify technical requirements, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Maintain and update maintenance history and equipment records for electrical equipment and systems within the assigned area.
  • Plan and coordinate major overhauls, shutdowns, and turnaround activities in coordination with Production, Maintenance, and other relevant departments.
  • Coordinate with other discipline planners and Maintenance Engineers to prepare manpower forecasts, spare parts requirements, equipment requirements, and activity durations to optimize plant downtime.
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans and obtain the necessary approvals before implementation.
  • Apply effective maintenance scheduling and planning techniques to ensure timely execution of planned activities.
  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend appropriate maintenance strategies and methods to improve equipment reliability.
  • Develop detailed schedules by defining milestones, major activities, activity relationships, durations, and resource requirements, using appropriate planning software.
  • Prepare budget estimates and monitor maintenance activities against approved targets and schedules.
  • Participate in regular meetings with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and other relevant departments to ensure effective implementation of maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate with the Turnaround team to monitor and analyze the status of turnaround activities and support the planning and execution of critical jobs.
  • Coordinate and liaise with contractors during project and maintenance execution and monitor performance against agreed schedules, scope, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor work progress and ensure activities are executed in accordance with the approved schedule and work requirements.
  • Review contractor invoices against Purchase Orders and perform initial verification in accordance with applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry and updating of all maintenance planning data in SAP/CMMS in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE/HSE) requirements and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with HSE and Quality departments on process safety, system documentation, continuous improvement, and compliance-related activities.
  • Maintain and update relevant maintenance planning documentation, procedures, records, and reports.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to electrical maintenance planning as assigned.
  • Strictly observe all applicable safety rules, regulations, and quality procedures.

Language and Communication Skills

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including:
    • Safety rules and regulations
    • Operating and maintenance instructions
    • Procedures and manuals
    • Engineering drawings
    • Electrical specifications and technical documentation
  • Ability to prepare routine reports, correspondence, planning documents, and technical communications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Engineers, Maintenance personnel, Production teams, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal and coordination skills.
  • Positive attitude, professional approach, and strong personality.

Computer & Software Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project or equivalent planning/scheduling software.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM and/or other CMMS applications.
  • Ability to use computerized maintenance management systems for work order management, planning, scheduling, equipment history, spare parts, and maintenance records.
