Position Summary

The Contract manufacturing & Logistics Manager is responsible for managing all external contract manufacturing partners, including Ingevity, along with the non-CTO storage contracts, terminals, and logistics that support Mainstream Pine Products' toll manufacturing and product distribution. This role ensures that toll production, product movement, and third-party service relationships are aligned with cost, quality, and delivery goals, while supporting transportation activity for domestic trucking and exports. This role also provides sourcing and procurement support for partners.

The position partners closely with Operations, Technical, Commercial, and Finance to manage toll partner performance, administer contracts, support commercial opportunities and identify cost savings and operational efficiencies. Excellent cross-communication and ownership are critical skills to excel in this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Contract Management

Owns the commercial and operational performance of every external contract manufacturing arrangement.

  • Manage all external contract manufacturing partners, including Ingevity: toll production, performance, and day-to-day relationship management.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of contract manufacturing agreements, including drafting, negotiation, review, execution, renewals, and amendments, coordinating with legal counsel on complex terms and risk exposure.
  • Administer toll fees, yield and loss provisions, quality specifications, inventory ownership, and liability terms; ensure MPP receives the full benefit of, and complies with, each contract.
  • Plan and schedule toll production with the Operations and Commercial teams to match customer demand and available capacity.
  • Hold regular performance reviews with each toller against volume, yield, quality, schedule, and cost; address disputes, service gaps, and corrective actions.
  • Reconcile toll volumes, yields, inventory, and invoices monthly with Accounting, and maintain toll reporting used by Finance and FP&A for forecasting.
  • Coordinate quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements at toll sites with Technical and Environmental teams.
  • Maintain accurate contract records, key terms, and compliance tracking; support audits and compliance reviews.
  • Evaluate new partners capability and capacity opportunities.
  • Track Ingevity contract manufacturing performance on a real-time basis; this requires communication with Operations, Planning, and Finance.
  • Work with the Commercial team to support new business opportunities.
  • Track and compare contract manufacturing costs across different partners.
  • Maintain clear internal communication with Operations and Technical teams to support third-party contract manufacturing opportunities.

Storage & Terminal Contracts

  • Manage non-CTO storage and terminal contracts, including negotiation, renewal, and amendment of rates, capacity, and service terms.
  • Monitor terminal and storage provider performance, throughput, inventory accuracy, and service levels; resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Reconcile storage and terminal invoices, handling charges, and inventory with Accounting and Supply Chain.
  • Coordinate product movements, scheduling, and capacity planning with terminals to support customer commitments and production plans.

Logistics Supporting Contract manufacturing, Storage & Terminals

Owns the physical flow of material and product created by toll, storage, and terminal operations

  • Coordinate inbound feedstock and intermediate movements to toll sites, and outbound finished product to MPP facilities and customers.
  • Manage rail, truck, and tank logistics tied to toll operations, including railcar and equipment availability, scheduling, and demurrage control.
  • Track in-transit and at-site inventory with Supply Chain and Accounting to keep records accurate and cut-offs clean.
  • Align shipment timing with production schedules, customer commitments, and storage constraints at both toll and MPP sites.
  • Manage freight cost, carrier performance, and claims for toll-related movements.
  • Maintain shipping documentation, certificates, and product-handling requirements for each toll lane.
  • Work directly with CTO Supply Chain Manager to manage all external CTO tanks.

Transportation Management: Domestic Trucking & Exports

Supports the transportation team and covers the movement of finished product by truck and by export route.

  • Support domestic truck freight: carrier selection, tendering, rate negotiation, scheduling, and on-time performance for bulk tank truck shipments.
  • Manage carrier relationships, safety and qualification requirements, and service-failure follow-up.
  • Support export shipments: booking, ISO tank and container coordination, port and terminal handoffs, and freight forwarder management.
  • Track freight spending and costs, utilizing contractors and alternative carriers to lower cost or improve service.
  • Work with Customer Service and Sales so customers receive accurate delivery windows and shipment status.
  • Support domestic trucking day-to-day coverage, escalations, and process improvements, including on-call support.

Sourcing, Procurement & Vendor Management

Supports sourcing and procurement needs for partners and logistics.

  • Source and manage service providers tied to contract manufacturing and logistics, such as carriers, terminals, forwarders, and packaging or handling vendors.
  • Support bids, rate reviews, and contract renewals for those providers with Procurement and Finance.
  • Support purchasing of toll-related materials and services when needed, following approval and Accounts Payable processes.

Work Environment

  • Professional office environment with regular interaction across operational and executive teams and with external toll partners and terminals.
  • Standard business hours with occasional extended hours as operational needs require; occasional travel to partners and terminal sites as well as conferences.

Employment Type & Schedule

  • Travel up to 20%.
  • Full-time position.
  • In CHS office, Monday - Friday.
