Description
We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 1000+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 20 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.
As a member of our Hydrogeology and Hydrology team, you’ll join a group of professionals that include hydrogeologists and hydrologists, engineers, geochemists, surficial geologists, ecologists, geomorphologists, and environmental scientists to work in a collaborative work environment on mining projects.
Specifically, you will:
- Compile, process, and evaluate climate and hydrological datasts, including data QA/QC, gap analysis, data patching, interpolation, and extrapolation using appropriate statistical methods.
- Perform hydrological frequency analyses to characterize droughts, extreme wet conditions, and other hydrologic events relevant to water management and design.
- Support the development of conceptual hydrological models, including the definition of catchments, hydrological processes, model inputs, assumptions, boundary conditions, and calibration targets prior to numerical model implementation.
- Develop, calibrate, and validate hydrological models to characterize regional hydrology and site-specific responses in both gauged and ungauged watersheds.
- Build and update water balance models using the latest GoldSim simulation software, incorporating rainfall, evaporation, catchment runoff, groundwater recharge, upstream inflows, and operational processes at mine sites.
- Modify water balance models to simulate site changes, updated infrastructure layouts, and water management practices during operations and post-closure for a range of event‑based and sequence‑based rainfall scenarios and climate change scenarios.
- Develop and calibrate site-wide contaminant load balance models or water quality models in GoldSim to simulate contaminant loads to be managed and treated and the loads and concentrations in the receiving environment.
- Conduct sensitivity and uncertainty analyses to evaluate key model assumptions, parameters, and drivers and assess their influence on model predictions and water management outcomes.
- Interpret modelling results and prepare clear technical documentation, figures, and repots than communicated model assumptions, methodologies, limitations, and key findings to project teams and clients.
This is a unique opportunity to bring your expertise to a highly engaged team, where your efforts and impact will be recognized and valued.
