Job Description

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Maintenance Technician in our Niagara Falls, NY location.

Primary Function:

Responsible for repairing and maintaining facility, machinery, and mechanical and electrical equipment. Boyd Thermal by Eaton’s Niagara Falls, NY location specializes in handcrafting precise thermal solutions for aerospace and defense customers.

 

This position is for 1st shift (7am-3pm). Hours may vary depending on business needs. Position will be on call for emergencies and may be asked to work weekends as needed.

 

Pay based on skill and experience ($26-$38/hr). Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

 

Essential Functions:

·       Repair and maintain Boyd Thermal by Eaton’s facility, machinery, and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatics, and/or production machines used in the production of heat transfer units

·       Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to sounds to identify trouble source

·       Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts

·       Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections

·       Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements

·       Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments

·       Repair or replace defective parts

·       Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment, including furnaces

·       Install special functional and structural parts in devices

·       Lubricate and clean parts/machines

·       Set up and operate lathe, grinder, welder and/or other metalworking tools to make and repair parts

·       Initiate purchase order for parts and/or machines

·       Repair electrical equipment

·       Maintain and repair building and grounds

·       Offer assistance and guidance to others in Maintenance Department

·       Use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation

·    Wear PPE as required by assigned department and/or task (respirator, etc.)

·       Inspect and record quality requirements of finished workpieces

·       Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times

·       Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Company policies and procedures

·       Make recommendations to implement improved processes and identify risks

·       Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
• Ability to complete basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, etc.)
• Mechanically inclined and possess strong degree of attention to detail

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, including but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to read electrical schematics / blueprints
• Ability to write routine reports

• Ability to lift and/or move 25 - 50 pounds with or without accommodation
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills required
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions
• Ability to work alone as well as in a team-fostered environment
• Must be willing to work hours required to support operations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Electrical Certifications or similar additional certifications preferred
• Prior related work experience (3-5+ years)
