##
Company:
Qualcomm Intl Inc., Mexico Branch Office
## Job Area:
Information Technology Group, Information Technology Group > IT Software Developer
General Summary:
Qualcomm is advancing a multi-year modernization of its ServiceNow platform, including a strategic transition to a clean, greenfield implementation. We're looking for a Senior ServiceNow Developer to join the ServiceNow Platform Team to design, build and improve solutions on the platform across the enterprise.
You'll deliver complex development work from start to finish as an individual contributor, contribute to technical design within the platform architecture, and help bring AI features into our service delivery. The role needs strong hands-on technical skills, sound design judgment, and the ability to work with business stakeholders to turn their needs into scalable, maintainable, upgrade-safe solutions. You'll work directly alongside ServiceNow architects, product owners, systems analysts, administrators, more senior developers and offshore delivery partners as an integrated platform team.
Key Responsibilities
- Development and Delivery
- Design, build, test and deploy ServiceNow solutions across modules such as ITSM, SPM, APM/EA, IRM, HAM, SPO, ITOM and HRSD, along with core platform capabilities.
- Develop custom scoped applications, custom tables, data models, forms, business logic, notifications, scheduled jobs and access controls.
- Write high-quality server-side and client-side code, including Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions and Scheduled Jobs.
- Build and maintain workflows and automations using Flow Designer, Workflow Studio and Process Automation Designer.
- Build and support integrations with enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, IntegrationHub spokes and Import Sets / Transform Maps.
- Platform Modernization
- Contribute to large-scale ServiceNow initiatives, including the greenfield implementation and the modernization of legacy capabilities.
- Assess legacy customizations and help retire, remediate or replace them with out-of-the-box and platform-native solutions.
- Follow and contribute to platform patterns, reusable components and engineering best practices that benefit the broader ServiceNow ecosystem at Qualcomm.
- Technical Design
- Translate requirements and functional designs into technical designs for assigned features and stories, following ServiceNow best practices, platform guardrails and the architectural direction set by platform architects.
- Identify design trade-offs and favor out-of-the-box features over custom builds where possible, helping reduce technical debt.
- Understand how technical choices (for example, IntegrationHub transactions, custom tables and role assignments) affect ServiceNow licensing, and flag cost or compliance concerns to architects.
- AI and Innovation
- Build and configure AI use cases on the ServiceNow platform, following an AI-first design approach.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up delivery while keeping code quality and coding standards high.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with product owners, business analysts, architects and stakeholders to refine requirements and priorities, and surface technical constraints early.
- Participate in peer code and configuration reviews, giving and acting on feedback so solutions are secure, performant and upgrade-safe.
- Share knowledge, patterns and reusable components with teammates and offshore delivery partners.
- Take part in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos and retrospectives.
- Work through complex production issues, carry out root cause analysis and put lasting fixes in place.
- Platform Health and Compliance
- Follow change management, release management and instance governance processes, including update sets, source control and instance promotion.
- Support platform upgrades, patching and regression testing using the Automated Test Framework (ATF), and help adopt new ServiceNow release features.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience, including work on complex enterprise implementations.
- Experience contributing to fresh ServiceNow implementations and/or modernizing legacy ServiceNow environments into clean, greenfield architectures.
- Strong JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting experience across server-side and client-side components.
- Deep experience with Flow Designer, Service Portal / Employee Center and scoped application development.
- Proven experience designing and building integrations (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, MID Server).
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JSON, XML, SQL, webhooks, LDAP, SAML and OpenID Connect.
- Technical design skills: able to build scalable solutions, understand technical trade-offs, document technical designs and apply platform best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: able to break down complex business problems, analyze data and troubleshoot platform issues.
- Excellent communication skills: able to explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, contribute to working sessions and demo solutions to stakeholders.
- Experience working as a member of a mature ServiceNow platform team, including with offshore delivery resources.
Preferred Qualifications (AI Skills)
- Experience with Now Assist for Creator, Build Agent, and Claude SDK-enabled development workflows.
- Experience with ServiceNow EmployeeWorks to deliver AI-powered employee self-service and conversational experiences.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Now Assist, including configuring and extending generative AI skills (summarization, resolution notes, Virtual Agent conversations, AI Search, Now Assist Skill Kit).
- Familiarity with AI Agents / Agentic Workflows, AI Agent Studio and Predictive Intelligence.
- Understanding of AI governance, prompt design and responsible AI practices in an enterprise setting.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD).
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more relevant modules (for example ITSM, SPM, IRM, HAM, ITOM or HRSD).
- Experience with Performance Analytics, Platform Analytics and reporting.
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow licensing and packaging, with the ability to assess the cost implications of technical design choices.
- Established ServiceNow community presence, such as participation in community forums or user groups, speaking engagements, published blogs or contributions to the ServiceNow Developer community.
- Experience in a Fortune 500 or similarly complex global enterprise, or a semiconductor/technology industry setting.
Why This Role Matters
This is a core, long-term individual contributor role on the ServiceNow Platform Team, contributing directly to how the platform is built, maintained and evolved. The Senior ServiceNow Developer will help make sure Qualcomm's ServiceNow modernization is delivered on a clean, scalable and upgrade-safe foundation that delivers sustained business value well beyond initial implementation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of IT-relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems).
OR
5+ years of IT-relevant work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of any combination of academic or work experience with Full-stack Application Development (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- 1+ year of any combination of academic or work experience with Data Structures, algorithms, and data stores.
*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of the general IT-related work experience.
