Challenger Limited is an ASX-listed investment management firm managing $120 billion in assets (as at 30 June 2026). Life with us is fast moving and always exciting. Together we’re driving to deliver our vision to provide our customers with financial security for a better retirement.
We achieve this goal by providing a work environment where people from diverse backgrounds, with a range of skills and experiences can contribute and succeed.
Technical Business Analyst – Registry & ETL - 12-month maximum-term contract
Understand how systems work, how data moves and what needs to change.
- We’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst with financial-services experience to investigate the data flows, business rules and integrations behind our registry systems.
- You’ll help the team understand how information moves, what shapes the outputs and what needs to change.
- At Challenger, we work flexibly. You can expect to spend three days each week in our Sydney CBD office and two days working from home.
About the role
Working with business BAs, product owners and technical specialists, you’ll turn complex system behaviour into clear mappings and technical requirements. Your focus will be on registry-related ETL processes and downstream outputs, including banking files and reporting extracts.
Early on, you’ll review priority requirements and existing documentation, identify gaps and clarify the rules and dependencies the team needs to understand before making changes.
What you’ll do
- Investigate registry-related ETLs with technical specialists, clarifying business rules, exceptions and differences between current and intended behaviour.
- Map data between systems and document transformation rules, specifications and the criteria, timing and dependencies behind reports and extracts.
- Trace end-to-end data flows and work with stakeholders to clarify data quality, ownership, lineage and access requirements.
- Run workshops to resolve technical questions and assess how changes affect downstream systems and business processes.
- Define acceptance criteria and validation scenarios with developers, testers and product owners, supporting delivery and investigating unexpected outputs or data discrepancies.
- Improve the structure and consistency of Confluence documentation, keeping mappings, requirements, specifications and validation evidence connected, with gaps and decisions clearly recorded.
What you’ll bring
Financial-services experience is essential, ideally within insurance , superannuation or investments. You’ll bring strong Technical Business Analyst experience on data or systems integration projects, supported by strong data-mapping and analysis skills. Registry or policy administration experience would be highly desirable.
You’re naturally curious about how things work. You ask questions and test ideas to help stakeholders reach practical outcomes, balancing detailed analysis with the bigger picture. You can explain complex information clearly to business and technical colleagues, delivery partners and senior leaders.
You’ll also bring:
- Confidence analysing ETLs, data structures and system interactions, and turning findings into clear technical specifications.
- An understanding of data quality, ownership, lineage and access requirements within a regulated financial-services environment.
- An understanding of integrations, APIs, enterprise applications and cloud/on-premises environments.
- Strong workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to bring business and technical colleagues together.
Why Challenger
You’ll be part of a collaborative, people-focused environment where different perspectives are valued and employees are encouraged to contribute, build their capability and make an impact.
Challenger also provides flexible working and a range of benefits supporting wellbeing, family life, career development and financial wellbeing.
