Description
Creating Patterns: Design and create patterns (templates or blueprints) for clothing or accessories based on design specifications, sketches, or samples.
Interpret Design Concepts: Understand and interpret the designer's concepts or fashion sketches to translate them into patterns for production.
Choosing Materials: Select appropriate fabrics and materials for the garment and create patterns that accommodate the properties of those materials.
Measuring and Sizing: Ensure that the pattern is the correct size and fits the desired measurements, adjusting for different sizes as needed.
Drafting Patterns: Use specialized software or traditional tools (like rulers, curve rulers, and French curves) to create, modify, and adjust patterns.
Creating Prototypes (Muslins): Make sample garments (called muslins) to test the fit and design of the pattern before full-scale production begins.
Pattern Adjustments: Modify and adjust patterns based on feedback from designers, samples, or production teams to improve fit and comfort.
Grading: Scale patterns for different sizes, ensuring consistent fit across all sizes in the product range.
Marking Fabric: Indicate markings for the fabric cutting process (e.g., where seams, notches, or darts should be).
Collaboration: Work closely with designers, seamstresses, manufacturers, and production teams to ensure the final garment matches the vision and is manufacturable.
