Responsibility encompasses leadership of team responsible for independent technical oversight, technical regulation, standards, and specifications, process, tooling, and equipment safety across all product lines and platforms for the GEA North American manufacturing footprint. Senior Director & Chief Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME)Location
USA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create Possibilities
Managerial responsibility for Chief Engineering Office for the AME organization - key responsibility being independent technical oversight across all product lines and platforms for manufacturing process, equipment, and tooling.
Develop and maintain manufacturing system procedures (MSP) for all manufacturing processes, equipment, and business manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
Maintain strong external presence and influence with Industry groups, equipment, tooling, robotics, and controls suppliers ensuring GEA manufacturing facilities and tooling remain world class, contemporary, and cutting edge, while delivering best in class OEE, assembly yield, TPM, and efficiency.
Lead a team of engineers across areas of manufacturing process expertise, project execution oversite and governance, standards development, and digital technology execution.
Coach and develop the AME organizations’ technical expertise, identifying critical areas of improvement and executing plans to drive change and growth.
Participate as an expert in Manufacturing Reviews, iNPI processes and reviews with Vice President of Supply Chain, Product Line Vice Presidents, and business Executive Council.
Develop and lead the Technical Career Path program for the AME organization, growing technical capability and expertise in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Oversee the evaluate and prove out new manufacturing processes and technologies ensuring a pipeline of proven innovation and efficiency for GEA manufacturing facilities prior to mass production implementation.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/manufacturing/supply chain
- 20+ years of manufacturing experience with prior managerial responsibility leading enterprise-wide initiatives, large-scale projects, and teams.
- Strong working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, robotics, and controls.
- Cap-ex specification and procurement experience (stamping, molding, machining, finishing, assembly) in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Understanding and ability to use model-based design information and GD&T as it relates to process development.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions while balancing technical risks, cost, and quality requirements
- Knowledge and experience with new product implementation/APQP, product and process development
- Appliance industry knowledge and experience
- Proven success in driving changes and facilitating consensus amid conflicting interests
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated initiative, drive, and the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization/environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively externally as well as internally with business leadership/across functions and product lines
Desired:
- Advanced degrees in engineering/manufacturing/supply chain
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt (MBB) Certification
- Plant operational experience (i.e. Plant Manager, Quality Manager, Operations Leader, Facilities Manager)
