Job Summary
The Shipping Specialist is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outgoing shipments to ensure products are delivered accurately, safely, and on time. This role works closely with warehouse, inventory, and customer service teams to maintain shipping accuracy, meet customer expectations, and support daily warehouse operations.
Pay rate: $24.00 hrly
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process customer orders for shipment.
- Pick, pack, label, and verify products according to company standards.
- Generate shipping labels, packing slips, bills of lading, and other required shipping documentation.
- Coordinate shipments with carriers such as UPS, FedEx, USPS, and LTL freight providers.
- Schedule freight pickups and monitor shipment status.
- Verify shipping information for accuracy, including quantities, addresses, and special instructions.
- Inspect packages to ensure proper packaging and compliance with shipping regulations.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged shipments, and delivery issues.
- Communicate with customer service, purchasing, and warehouse personnel regarding shipping priorities.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain an organized shipping area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
- Perform other warehouse and logistics duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or distribution preferred.
- Experience using shipping software and ERP/WMS systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, USPS, and freight shipping procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Ability to read shipping documents and follow written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and climb as needed.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of inventory control practices.
- Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
