Position: Forklift Operator

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Forklift Operator to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating forklifts and a proven track record of safety and efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise in our warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise in the warehouse
- Inspect forklifts before and after use and report any maintenance or safety concerns
- Load and unload materials onto and off of trucks and shelves
- Ensure proper stacking and storage of merchandise to maximize space and prevent damage
- Use hand-held scanners to track inventory and update records
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations while operating the forklift
- Communicate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and accurate inventory counts
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid forklift operator certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting
- Proven track record of safety and efficiency in operating forklifts
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
- Basic math and computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
