Job Description

We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead assigned capital projects and manage engineering, design, and construction resources within a manufacturing plant environment. This position will be Full-Time, On-Site in Gonzales, LA and a contract role.

What You’ll Do

• Lead assigned capital projects (standalone projects and projects within plant outages) and manage all engineering, design, and construction resources
• Develop estimates, funding documents, schedules, and ongoing forecasts for plant-executed projects within SAP
• Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and ORIs, and ensure timely completion of recommendations
• Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs
• Provide field supervision and support during project execution
• Manage project safety, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and goals
• Maintain projects within budget and schedule constraints
• Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer
• Conduct Safety Kickoff Meetings with contractors and operations teams before project execution
• Confirm contractors are aware of and follow all client Safety Standards
• Clearly communicate safety goals: 0 Recordables, 0 First Aids
• Complete short-term contractor BSP forms daily during project execution
• Complete JSA reviews and fill out JSA Review forms daily during project execution
• Participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process with the operations team
• Lead daily morning safety/toolbox meetings with all crafts
• Report all incidents immediately
• Ensure all contractors on-site for project execution have submitted an Emergency Action Plan prior to mobilization
• Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages
• Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings

What You’ll Need

Required:

• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Strong leadership abilities
• Experience in manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, and capital projects
• Technical degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card, Security Passport, and pass refinery background checks (TWIC card must be current and valid for project completion)

Preferred:

• Familiarity with quality standards as outlined by client

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
• Must be able to communicate with customers and team members over the phone and in person
• Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the site to attend meetings or oversee projects
• Willingness to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, following strict fatigue management guidelines
• Travel required as much as 15-25% depending on the project

$40-$45 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
