Job Description

The Department of Psychology and Sociology, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, invites applications for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track position in Clinical Psychology beginning Fall of 2027. Faculty rank and tenure status will be determined upon review of qualifications. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in both traditional and fully online formats, as well as a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. We are seeking Full Professor candidates with doctoral-level program experience, as we are considering the development of a PhD in Clinical Psychology. The Psychology programs are among the largest in the College of Liberal Arts, with approximately 500 majors, 100 minors, and 40 graduate students.

We seek applicants with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology expected to be conferred by the start of the appointment.  Applicants must be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Texas.  Priority will be given to candidates with research experience in clinical psychology.  Successful candidates will be expected to teach clinical psychology courses at the undergraduate and master’s level, which may include courses in psychological assessment, psychopathology, and psychotherapy. There may also be opportunities to develop courses in their area of specialization. Tenure-track faculty carry a standard 3-3 teaching load.

TAMU-CC is an R2 University, and the department has an increasing focus on research.  We seek candidates with a record of (or potential for) research productivity, and an interest in pursuing external funding.  The successful candidate’s research activities will include mentoring student research and supervising master’s thesis students in our Clinical Psychology MA program. Individuals considered for this position will also be expected to provide clinical supervision to master’s level students, and actively engage in service to the department, college, university, and profession. The successful candidate should have an understanding of multifaceted issues and relevant experience in their applications to pedagogy and clinical practice.

Required Qualifications:

Assistant Rank:

• Earned Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program. Advanced ABD will be considered; a degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.

• Be license eligible as a psychologist in the state of Texas at the time of appointment.

Full Professor Rank:

• Earned Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program.

• Be license eligible as a psychologist in the state of Texas at the time of appointment.

• To be considered for the Full Professor rank, a minimum of ten (10) years of full-time university faculty experience with a minimum of four (4) years of experience at the associate rank or comparable rank is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Licensed as a psychologist, preferably in the state of Texas.

• Independent Clinical experience or research focused in Clinical Psychology.

• Experience and/or ability to teach/develop courses at the master’s and undergraduate level.

• A record of, or potential for, research productivity and a clear research agenda.

• Interest and/or experience in seeking external funding for research.

• A record of mentoring students in research and supervising clinical students.
