Description
Information Technology Lead
Step into a pivotal IT Leadership role at a fast-growing grid intelligence company. You will own the security, reliability, and overall employee experience that keeps LineVision moving forward. You'll ensure seamless internal productivity while maintaining the operational rigor expected by our customers in the critical energy infrastructure sector.
Reporting to the VP of Security, IT, and Quality, you will be granted broad autonomy to lead IT service delivery, systems administration, and IT compliance execution. You and your IT Analyst will deliver an exceptional technology experience, powering employee productivity across core SaaS applications, such as Google Workspace, Claude Enterprise, Slack, and Atlassian. You will also take charge of identity and endpoint management, including Okta, 1Password, and Workspace One, while executing the IT controls essential to our ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II audits. Our entire organization will look to you to provide a seamless, secure foundation that enables everyone to do their best work.
If you get satisfaction from running a tight, well-instrumented IT operation and building the team underneath it, join us at LineVision, Built In Boston Best Places to Work!
What will you do?
Core Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives
- IT Service Delivery & Support: Oversee the helpdesk and IT support services with Jira Service Management. Manage the IT Analyst to ensure employee requests, onboarding, offboarding, and role transfers are handled seamlessly and within SLA.
- Identity & Workflow Automation: Build and maintain workflow automation for the employee account lifecycle.
- Hardware & Procurement: Own Dell and Apple hardware procurement, provisioning, and asset tracking across in-office and remote environments.
- Administer and maintain core applications: MDM, identity, Google Workspace, password management, collaboration and work management tools, and enterprise AI.
- Security Operations & IT Compliance: Perform Access Rights Reviews and security awareness training administration.
- Incident Management: Serve on the on-call rotation for security event escalations from our MSSP, and ensure agent deployment/health across the fleet.
- Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships for IT-owned tools and services, including contract renewals and procurement recommendations.
Current Projects Requiring IT Lead Direction
Within the first 3 months:
- Establish operational rhythm with LineVision's IT Analyst, including regular 1-1s, goal-setting, and workload prioritization.
- Take ownership of core IT tools, including identity, MDM, and security.
- Inventory and gain operational control over existing accounts and IT applications.
- Establish vendor relationships with key service providers, such as our MSP, professional services partners, and Mac/Windows workstation suppliers.
- Audit current account provisioning/deprovisioning practices.
- Implement practices to ensure compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.
Within the first 6 months:
- Implement confidential data handling controls that conform to LineVision’s Data Management policy.
- Implement tooling in support of 24x7 Customer Support team commitments: customer email automation, PagerDuty administration, and customer support portal.
- Take ownership of enterprise AI: evolve Claude security configuration, monitor spend and implement controls.
- Assess and recommend improvements to the Boston office infrastructure: internet connectivity, firewall, and conference room A/V.
- Propose LineVision’s annual IT budget, monitor spend, and provide periodic forecast updates.
- Run a full audit cycle as the IT-side evidence owner, with no SLA-related findings.
Within the first year:
- Propose an updated 2–3 year IT systems roadmap, including resourcing needs as the company grows.
- Mature controls and workflows to streamline confidential data handling.
- Implement workflow automations to account lifecycle management (onboarding, offboarding, access reviews) that reduces manual effort or audit risk.
How to succeed in this role
Key Competencies
- Ownership: feel comfortable taking the full scope of responsibility for IT systems, vendor management, service delivery, and team development.
- Attention to Detail: catch an access misconfiguration or missed deprovisioning before an auditor or a customer does.
- Communication: explain technical issues clearly to employees, executives, and vendors; know when something needs to go up the chain.
- People Leadership: coach and develop a direct report, and hold them accountable to service standards.
- Follow Through: manage a high volume of parallel, interrupt-driven work without dropping the ball on longer-term projects.
Essential Skills
- 4+ years in IT operations/systems administration, with at least 1+ years in a lead or people-management capacity.
- Hands-on administration experience with Okta (or equivalent IdP), MDM platforms (Workspace One or equivalent), and Google Workspace admin.
- Experience with managing and supporting Windows, MacOS, and Linux end-user devices.
- Familiarity with endpoint security tooling (e.g., CrowdStrike) from an IT operations perspective (deployment/health, not engineering configuration).
- Experience supporting ISO 27001 and/or SOC 2 Type II audits (evidence gathering, control execution).
- Track record of managing account lifecycle processes (onboarding, offboarding, access reviews) against defined SLAs.
- Vendor management experience: contract renewals, tool evaluation, and cost management.
What Sets The Best Candidates Apart
- A service mindset: a commitment to user enablement and internal support.
- Direct experience managing or mentoring a small IT team.
- Experience implementing data handling controls for sensitive or regulated data.
- Comfort administering AI tools (seat/spend management, security configuration).
- Experience standing up customer-facing support tooling (e.g., PagerDuty, Jira Service Management, support portals).
Reporting & Team Structure
- Reports to the VP of Security, IT & Quality.
- Manages the IT Analyst.
- Partners closely with Security Engineering and Compliance on audit evidence and CEII/confidential data controls, and with HR on onboarding/offboarding.
- Partners with Finance on AI tool spend and vendor contract management.
