Description
1.Role Purpose
As a Senior Automation Engineer for the manufacturing plant, this position is responsible for the technical support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of plant control systems. The role requires a solid understanding of ISA-95 architecture to ensure seamless system integration and optimization. The engineer will solve complex production process control challenges through advanced automation technologies (DCS/PLC/SCADA), ensuring high availability, data integrity, and compliance of production systems, particularly under GxP compliance requirements in biopharmaceutical media production environments.
2. Key Responsibilities
● Architecture & Design: Based on ISA-95 standards, lead the design, development, and deployment of plant automation architecture (IT/OT convergence) to ensure system scalability and security.
● System Management: Responsible for engineering design and maintenance of mainstream control systems, must be proficient in at least one mainstream DCS (e.g., ABB 800xA) or PLC (e.g., Siemens S7-1500/300/400) system hardware architecture, control principles, and programming (Ladder Logic, SCL, FBD).
● Hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving complex OT system issues:on the shop floor, including troubleshooting PLC control loops, identifying root causes of equipment malfunctions, and restoring production continuity with minimal downtime.
● Technical Leadership: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in automation to provide daily technical support to production departments, solve complex equipment, process, and material issues, conduct root cause analysis , and implement corrective and preventive actions.
● Project Technical Support: Provide expert technical oversight during the installation, commissioning, and qualification (including FAT/SAT/IQ/OQ) of equipment and production lines, ensuring technical compliance and smooth handover for daily operations.
● Compliance & Data Integrity: Ensure all automation systems comply with biopharmaceutical industry regulations (e.g., GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11), guaranteeing data integrity and traceability of production processes.
● Personnel Development: Provide advanced training to operators and technicians to enhance team capabilities in operating and maintaining new equipment and processes.
3.Experiences/Education - Required
● Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering fields.
● Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on automation engineering experience in manufacturing environments, with a preference for candidates with experience from biopharmaceutical, life sciences, or fine chemical industries.
● Technical Skills:
○ In-depth understanding of automation pyramid and ISA-95 architecture.
○ Must be proficient in at least one mainstream control system:
■ DCS: Proficient in ABB systems (e.g.,800xA) configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
■ PLC: Proficient in Siemens systems (e.g., Step 7, TIA Portal) programming and architecture.
○ Extensive hands-on field commissioning and troubleshooting experience, capable of independently resolving complex control loop and communication issues.
● Industry Background: Experience with automation systems in bioreactors, chromatography systems, or resin media production lines is preferred.
4.Experiences/Education - Desired
● Possess shift supervisory experience and ability to adapt to shift support requirements in production environments.
● Cross-functional Communication: Strong experience in coordinating with cross-departmental teams and providing technical leadership within project groups.
