The Data and Performance Analyst supports data-driven program management through the development of dashboards, performance measures, management reports, data controls, and decision-support products. The position integrates information from multiple sources to provide accurate, concise, and actionable insights that support operational and executive decision-making.
Background
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, nonpartisan legislative branch agency that supports Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities and improving the performance, transparency, and accountability of the Federal Government.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dashboards, performance measures, and management reports to monitor program performance.
- Integrate and analyze data from multiple sources to provide comprehensive and actionable insights.
- Develop concise, exception-based reporting that highlights key trends, variances, risks, and areas requiring management attention.
- Establish and maintain data controls, validation processes, and quality standards to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Develop decision-support products, visualizations, and analytical tools for management and executive leadership.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with program, operational, and functional stakeholders to identify reporting and data requirements.
- Monitor performance against established measures, goals, and objectives and provide recommendations based on findings.
- Maintain documentation of data sources, methodologies, reporting processes, and performance measures.
- Identify opportunities to improve data integration, reporting efficiency, and business intelligence capabilities.
Qualifications
- Four years of data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, or program performance experience.
- Experience integrating information from multiple sources.
- Ability to produce concise, exception-based management reporting.

Bachelors Degree
Location and Work Hours
This position is 100% on-site and requires daily reporting to the following location:
GAO Headquarters
Washington, DC
This role is not eligible for remote or telework arrangements. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the worksite and be able to reliably report on-site as required.
This position follows a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Employees are expected to be available during core business hours of 8:00am- 5:00pm, with additional working hours scheduled outside of core hours as needed to fulfill the full work schedule.
The candidate must currently reside within commutable distance to the work location.
Compensation
This position is being recruited in support of a competitive federal contracting opportunity, and AES is continuing to develop its staffing, labor category, and compensation strategy. Because this position is expected to support a primarily remote workforce and qualified candidates may reside in different geographic markets throughout the United States, compensation expectations may vary considerably by location.
Final compensation will consider factors including geographic market, relevant experience, education, specialized records management expertise, applicable labor category requirements, and contractual and business considerations.
