Job Overview:

Tama-Benton Cooperative is looking for a reliable and experienced Local Class A Driver to transport local loads with hopper and tanker trailers. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), have hands-on experience operating both hopper and tanker trailers, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safe and dependable transportation. Responsibilities:

• Safely haul and deliver local loads for Tama-Benton Cooperative while operating hopper and tanker trailers.

• Follow all applicable traffic laws, transportation regulations, and company policies while maintaining safe driving practices.

• Conduct thorough pre-trip vehicle inspections and verify that equipment is safe and ready for operation before departing.

• Load and unload freight safely, efficiently, and in an organized manner while using the appropriate equipment and established procedures.

• Accurately complete required transportation paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and other documentation for Tama-Benton Cooperative.

• Maintain clear and timely communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery schedules, changes, delays, or other issues.

• Follow established safety procedures and requirements, including appropriate handling and transportation of hazardous materials when applicable.

• Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and applicable transportation laws.

• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance duties, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and general vehicle cleanliness.

• Provide professional and courteous customer service on behalf of Tama-Benton Cooperative when interacting with customers and other stakeholders.

• Promptly and accurately report accidents, incidents, equipment problems, or vehicle malfunctions to Tama-Benton Cooperative.

• Follow all Tama-Benton Cooperative policies and procedures related to safety, compliance, vehicle operation, and daily operations.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with all required endorsements.

• Previous experience operating and pulling both hopper and tanker trailers.

• Clean driving history with no major violations or accidents during the previous three years.

• Solid understanding of DOT requirements, transportation regulations, and applicable driving laws.

• Demonstrated ability to safely operate, back, maneuver, and handle hopper and tanker trailers.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for working effectively with customers, dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members.

• Detail-oriented approach with the ability to accurately complete paperwork, delivery records, and required documentation.

• Physical ability to complete the essential duties of the position, including lifting and carrying heavy loads, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and overtime as business needs require.
