Safety & Training Supervisor - Transit

Job Description: 

The Transportation Safety & Training Supervisor will report directly to the General Manager and will work closely with operations and field leadership to support the company’s transportation safety, training, and compliance initiatives.

This role will be responsible for helping ensure drivers and operational staff are properly trained, safety standards are consistently followed, and required training and compliance programs are maintained across the operation. The Supervisor will also partner with leadership to identify training needs, address safety concerns, and promote a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Conduct road evaluations for candidates and drivers 
• Oversee Medical certification scheduling appointments process 
• Assist with On-boarding, training, and badging process with new hires and team members 
• Train all new hires in Pre-trips, Behind the Wheel, Samsara, Policies, Procedures, Radio communication  
• Accident investigation – on scene, paperwork, pictures, interviews 
• Review and track data from driver performance software and assess with team members 
• Refer any disciplinary actions needed to GM for processing 
• Communicate with all drivers periodically after an accident or event coaching 
• Conduct monthly Safety meetings 
• Semi-Annual evaluations and retrains when needed. 
• Work with facility supervisors and dispatchers to ensure all safety policies are being followed 
• Additional ad-hoc projects that are assigned In regards with Safety & Training  

Skills Required and Physical Demands: 

• Ability to multitask and pay extreme attention to detail.  
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and problem solve.  
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate to advanced excel skills.  
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills  
• Excellent customer service skills  
• Able to lift 25+ pounds, climb stairs, and be on your feet for an extended period.

Education and Qualifications: 

Hard requirements: 

• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in transportation safety 

• Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and applicable transportation safety standards.

Preferred requirements: 

• Experience in public or private alternative transportation demand management (TDM)  

• Commercial driver’s license 

• Knowledge of DMV policies and procedures
