Position Title:
Process Engineer
Position Summary:
Seeking a Process Engineer to lead process optimization and R&D initiatives across its produced-water treatment and freeze desalination operations. This role will analyze plant and laboratory data, develop process models and operating strategies, and identify opportunities to improve recovery rates, reduce chemical consumption, increase efficiency, and lower operating costs. The position will also lead engineering and design for R&D projects including but not limited to waste heat recovery & utilization, brine valorization & management, and fractional freeze desalination process improvements. This position will also evaluate emerging technologies, coordinate pilot testing programs, preparing of business cases, and supporting technology commercialization and intellectual-property development. The ideal candidate will have a relevant engineering degree, at least five years of related industrial process-engineering experience working with large scale water treatment or industrial plants, a strong analytical understanding in the fields of chemistry and thermodynamics, experience in troubleshooting of large systems, technical-reporting, and cross-functional communication skills. Experience working with large scale refrigeration or water treatment equipment is preferred but not required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead process optimization efforts across produced water treatment and desalination systems
- Lead engineering/design for TWS focused R&D projects
- Analyze plant operating data to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, improved recovery rates, reduced chemical consumption, and lower operating costs
- Evaluate existing treatment technologies and recommend operational enhancements
- Develop process models, mass balances, performance calculations, and operating strategies
- Evaluate emerging technologies that may benefit TWS operations or create new business opportunities
- Participate in the design and execution of pilot programs, field trials, and proof-of-concept testing
- Prepare technical evaluations, business cases, and implementation recommendations for management
- Support intellectual property development and technology commercialization efforts where applicable
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in industrial process engineering, water treatment, chemical processing, desalination, refrigeration, or related industries
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience evaluating process performance using operational and laboratory data
- Proficiency with Excel and engineering calculations
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
- Skilled in coordinating collaboration across multiple teams/companies
Requirements
Travel & Physcial Requirements:
- This position will perform work at the TX Pacific R&D Desal facility located in Orla, TX. (~2.5 hr drive from midland, truck, gas, & lodging available)
- Will require travel to Orla desalination facility (3-4 days per week)
- Will require periodic overnight travel for conferences, meetings, technology visits, etc.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle
- This is a hands on position that will require you to be on your feet more than 50% of the time, and may require you to periodically lift up to 50 lbs.
- The job environment will range from plant, to office, and some field work across TPLs West TX land holdings ( more than 800,000ac)
