  Job Summary 

The Logistics Analytics & Optimization Analyst is responsible for delivering data-driven insights, cost analytics, and network optimization recommendations that improve transportation efficiency, service performance, and overall supply chain costs. This role serves as a strategic partner to Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations teams by transforming complex transportation and distribution data into actionable business decisions. The analyst will develop freight cost models, monitor logistics performance, identify optimization opportunities across inbound and outbound transportation networks, and support forecasting, S&OP, and continuous improvement initiatives. Through advanced analytics and business intelligence tools, this position drives operational excellence, enhances visibility across the logistics network, and supports the achievement of cost, service, and efficiency objectives. 

Principle Accountabilities

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

Cost Analytics:

•  Build and maintain freight cost dashboards across all modes (ocean, air, FTL, LTL, parcel, drayage)
•  Benchmark freight rates against market indices (DAT, Xeneta, Freightos) monthly
•  Perform invoice-to-contract audit analytics — identify systematic overcharges
•  Model cost impact of network changes (e.g., NDC consolidation, mode shifts)
•  Support RACI by flagging spend outside contracted thresholds in near real-time

Network Optimization:

•  Continuously model DC network configuration — analyze Memphis/Manassas/NJ split vs. NDC flows
•  Identify LTL-to-FTL consolidation opportunities by lane and frequency
•  Analyze parcel vs. LTL threshold optimization by customer/zone
•  Model air-to-ocean shift opportunities on inbound freight
•  Evaluate DC bypass opportunities (direct from NDC to wholesaler)

Reporting & KPIs:

•  Own the monthly logistics performance scorecard
•  Build carrier performance analytics for QBRs
•  Provide freight forecasting models aligned with commercial forecast
•  Report on demurrage/detention trends and cost drivers
•  Support S&OP process with transportation capacity and cost inputs
•  Tracking Key Metrics 
•  Freight cost per pallet (all modes)
•  Cost per container (ocean & air)
•  Network cost vs. benchmark
•  Optimizations savings identified vs realized
•  Freight forecast accuracy
•  Lead change through innovative thinking and active use of packaging improvement tools and techniques.

Requirements

Knowledge & Skills 

•  Advanced data analytics, statistical analysis, cost modeling, and financial evaluation of transportation and logistics operations.
•  Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Power BI/Tableau, business intelligence reporting, dashboard development, and data visualization.
•  Knowledge of transportation management, freight cost analysis, carrier performance measurement, logistics network    optimization, and supply chain processes.
•  Experience with TMS, SAP/ERP reporting systems, freight market intelligence platforms (Xeneta, DAT, FreightWaves), and    logistics data management.
•  Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data extraction, modeling, automation, and advanced analytics.
•  Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.

Experience & Education

•  Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, or Analytics
•  2–5 years supply chain or logistics analytics experience
•  Strong quantitative and data visualization skills
•  TMS and ERP reporting experience
•  Pharma industry experience a plus
