Java Developer

Citi is looking for a Java Developer to join its Technology team and contribute to the design, development, and delivery of application systems that power financial services at global scale. In this intermediate-level role, you will build and enhance software solutions using modern engineering practices, working across cloud infrastructure, APIs, and data systems to solve real business problems. Responsibilities

• Design and develop RESTful APIs using Java and Spring frameworks, ensuring clean, maintainable, and well-structured code across all delivery phases.
• Build and deploy applications on cloud infrastructure using OpenShift and Kubernetes, applying container orchestration best practices to support scalable and reliable systems.
• Integrate messaging systems including Kafka and MQ to enable reliable data flow and event-driven communication between distributed services.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, and monitor application health and performance through Grafana to support continuous delivery and operational stability.
• Analyze applications to detect vulnerabilities, conduct debugging sessions, and implement targeted fixes that strengthen system security and resilience.
• Collaborate with technology teams and business stakeholders to define system enhancements, translate requirements into technical specifications, and deliver effective software solutions.
• Support and mentor junior analysts by sharing technical expertise and providing guidance on engineering approaches and problem-solving strategies.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 2+ years of software development experience within the financial services industry, with a focus on Java-based application development.
• Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs using Spring or comparable Java frameworks.
• Practical experience with relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, SQL, and MongoDB.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes) and build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
• Experience with DevOps tooling including Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline configuration, alongside monitoring platforms such as Grafana.
• Solid grounding in software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
