The Position

The Opportunity

As the Head of China Early Development Center of Excellence (CED CoE), you will report to the Head of PD China and be based in Shanghai, China.

You will lead a new, high-profile organization that accelerates early development of Roche’s global pipeline through China’s clinical and scientific ecosystem. You will shape and execute Phase I and II clinical development—including first-in-human studies—across Roche’s core therapeutic areas: CVRM, Ophthalmology, Neuroscience, Immunology and Oncology.

What you will be working on

• Lead China early clinical development and deliver Phase I/II studies across Roche’s priority therapeutic areas and modalities.
• Shape the China asset pipeline with global R&D leaders and align China development plans with end-to-end global strategies.
• Oversee study design, delivery, analysis and reporting to ensure high-quality, timely clinical execution.
• Build strategic partnerships with leading hospitals, investigators, academic centers and biotech organizations.
• Lead regulatory strategy, organizational capability, talent, budget and resources for the CED CoE.

Who You Are

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with 10+ years of drug-development experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or major clinical organizations.
• Deep early-development expertise, including Phase I/II trial design, dose escalation and health-authority interactions.
• Proven regulatory experience in China and globally, including NMPA/CDE, FDA and EMA interactions and submissions.
• Strong China clinical-research ecosystem network, paired with experience working effectively in global matrix organizations.
• An inspiring people leader with strategic judgment
• Fluent written and spoken English. Chinese Mandarin speaking will be highly preferred.
