Description
About the team
- Lead the continued delivery of our Regulatory Fairness plan, helping us identify and address inequalities in regulatory outcomes.
- Use data, insight and evaluation to shape targeted action and support meaningful, sustainable improvement.
- Influence and advise senior leaders, including the Council, Executive Board and senior colleagues, on complex and sensitive EDI matters.
- Challenge bias, unfair treatment and discrimination, supporting fair outcomes for professionals on our register and people who interact with our processes.
- Build strong relationships across the NMC, including with the Head of Workforce EDI, to align our regulatory and employer EDI commitments.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Regulatory EDI team, creating an inclusive and psychologically safe environment where people can do their best work.
- Proven experience of delivering EDI strategies, plans or interventions within a regulatory, policy, legal or similarly complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of equality legislation and the Public Sector Equality Duty.
- The credibility to influence, advise and constructively challenge senior stakeholders with confidence.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to use evidence and insight to shape decisions and improve outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive culture.
- Experience of leading teams, supporting performance and enabling continuous improvement.

Additional Information
Hybrid Working Policy
We are currently working to a policy of office attendance for two days per week with the rest of the time working from home. Before submitting your application, please ensure you are able to commit to working in one of our office locations twice per week. If you are applying for a part-time role, please pro-rata office attendance based on the number of days you would be working.
Our Pay Policy
It is expected that staff new to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band. However in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a salary above the bottom of the relevant pay band but we may request proof of current earnings. Please note that we offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach. Further details of which are available on request.
