Description
Contract type: Consultant, estimated duration 12 to 18 months.
Location: Luanda, remote work can be accommodated for set periods.
Project Lead – Technology & Data
Accountable for the continuity and integrity of all IT infrastructure, operational software and data assets at the point of handover. Leads three workstreams covering hardware transition, software and ERP continuity, and the structured transfer of critical operational and technical data from the outgoing operator.
WORKSTREAMS
• IT Hardware: Building a physical infrastructure inventory (servers, networks, workstations, communications), a transition plan, and assurance of Day 1 connectivity.
• IT Software / ERP: Securing continuity of upstream operational platforms (e.g. Petrel, Eclipse, OSIsoft PI, Landmark and equivalents), including licensing and vendor management; and transitioning enterprise platforms (SAP modules, Ariba and other corporate systems), covering data migration, user access and Day 1 readiness.
• Data Transfer: Building a full data inventory across production, wells, seismic and contracts; setting up a secure data room; appointing a Data Librarian; and validating data quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• IT infrastructure: Ensuring hardware, networks and connectivity are operational across offshore and onshore environments from Day 1.
• Industry software: Ensuring uninterrupted access to upstream technical platforms through and beyond handover.
• ERP systems: Ensuring SAP, Ariba and corporate management platforms are live and operational from Day 1, managed as a distinct workstream from industry software.
• Data transfer: Owning what the Company receives from the outgoing operator in terms of data — its completeness, structure and usability.
• System and data gaps: Identifying risks before handover.
KEY COMPETENCIES
• Systems thinking: Holds a clear, integrated view of how hardware, software and data interact.
• Vendor management: Comfortable leading conversations with software vendors on licensing, access and transition timelines.
• Project management: Able to sequence a multi-track IT and data transition to a fixed deadline while managing vendor and internal dependencies.
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
• Experience: Minimum 8 years in IT management, digital infrastructure or data management, ideally within Oil & Gas or broader energy.
• PMI track record: Experience in IT transitions during integrations, carve-outs or asset handovers is a plus but not decisive; technical depth and a track record of managing complex infrastructure migrations in Oil & Gas carry more weight.
• Alternative benchmark: Where PMI integration experience is absent, candidates should demonstrate seniority as an IT Manager who has led multi-disciplinary technology teams through complex infrastructure migrations or implementations.
• Technical knowledge: Familiarity with upstream software platforms and ERP systems.
• Language: Fluent English is mandatory; Portuguese is an advantage.
• Working style: Able to work autonomously on a full-time basis, coordinating remotely with periodic in-country travel for key milestones.
