Global Supply Chain Transitions Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in project and program management. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve Global Supply Chain (GSC) processes and services. Manages assigned GSC supplier transitions — including site moves, dual-sourcing, supplier exits, and support of merger and acquisition (M&A) integration activity — to help safeguard business continuity and continuity of supply for the Applied business units and sites served. This position is an entry point into GSC supplier transition management; assigned projects are scoped to manageable size, risk and resource requirements, with larger or more complex transitions assigned at more senior levels.

Manages assigned transitions from intake through closure within established Transitions Team project management standards, applying the Agile, Hybrid or Traditional (Waterfall) approach appropriate to the initiative and confirming the approach with the Transitions program lead. Responsible for planning and executing assigned work to agreed scope, schedule and quality; maintaining accurate project, part and supplier data; tracking actions, risks and dependencies; providing clear and accurate status and risk communication; and driving assigned deliverables to closure. Escalates scope changes, resource conflicts and unresolved risk to the Transitions program lead. Project management skills are also applied to manage incoming supplier changes to ensure they are accurate and meet Applied change management requirements.

Other Requirements: This position requires periodic travel to supplier and Applied manufacturing sites, domestic and international, to support supplier capability assessment, qualification and audit activity. Site visits may require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

Transitions Team Responsibilities

Business Process & Technical Knowledge

• Applies working knowledge of the core supply chain and technical systems required for assigned transitions — including change management, part and supplier data, and qualification tracking systems — using established Transitions Team process documentation and job aids.
• Understands the supply chain and technical processes involved in supplier transitions and how own role and deliverables fit within the assigned program.
• Pulls part, supplier and qualification data accurately from defined systems and sources, and verifies completeness and accuracy before it is used for analysis, reporting or decision making — including ensuring complete part lists are captured for each assigned transition.
• Manages assigned Supplier Notifications (SNFs) — confirming incoming changes meet process requirements and contain the required data, resolving system conflicts, routing to approvers and following up on approvals to meet Applied change management requirements.
• Captures and tracks drawing, specification and special-process requirements as defined by the Design Engineering Authority (DEA) and Copy Exact teams, and maintains them in the qualification plan as tracked deliverables and milestones.
• Applies standard analyses and data reviews to identify potential causes of project issues, escalating complex technical or root-cause analysis to the DEA, Quality or the Transitions program lead as appropriate.
• Uses supply chain and technical data to build and maintain execution plans, action trackers and project status reporting for assigned transitions.

Project & Delivery Management

• Plans and completes assigned project work on time and to expected quality once scope, priorities and outcomes are defined, managing the transition from intake and scoping through qualification, implementation and closure.
• Supports the development and maintenance of site and part qualification plans — applying the established part criticality, demand and risk criteria to prepare the proposed sampling plan, and reviewing it with the DEA, Copy Exact and Quality for concurrence before the plan is finalized. Tracks deliverables, milestones and completion status against the approved plan.
• Leads the cross-functional project team for assigned transitions — spanning Business Unit DEA, Copy Exact representatives, Supplier Engineering, Commodity Business Management, Quality, qualification task owners and supplier personnel — tracking actions, preparing project materials and ensuring follow-through on team deliverables. Project size, risk and complexity are scoped to the level.
• Coordinates with Supply Chain, Quality, Business Unit and supplier contacts to keep assigned work moving and to resolve routine issues; convenes and runs project and supplier working meetings, and requests audit support as required.
• Contributes to current- and future-state assessments of supplier manufacturing capability — business, operational and technical, including on-site evaluation — and provides findings and recommendations to the Transitions program lead to inform the transition approach.
• Maintains the risk register for assigned projects: identifies risk early, confirms ownership with the responsible functions, tracks dependencies and open decisions, and escalates through established channels to limit downstream delay.
• Adapts to changing scope, supplier issues and schedule obstacles by adjusting plans, seeking input from the Transitions program lead on approach, and remaining engaged until the issue is resolved. Tracks quality findings and corrective actions to closure with Quality and the DEA.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Communicates clearly and professionally with team members, management and supplier contacts, providing accurate and timely status, risk and issue updates.
• Participates actively in project and supplier meetings, captures stakeholder input, documents decisions and follows up on assigned actions to closure.
• Uses data and facts, rather than opinion, to explain observations and support recommendations.
• Produces clear written project materials, status summaries and presentation materials for internal and supplier audiences.
• Engages professionally with managers and senior team members, providing accurate information and responding thoughtfully to questions; routes escalations beyond the immediate stakeholder group through the Transitions program lead.

• Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, follows through on commitments without reminders, and escalates issues appropriately and early.
• Manages multiple concurrent work items, adjusting priorities in line with direction from the Transitions program lead and changing business needs.

• Assists with the training and onboarding of new team members and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Salary Range:

$88,000.00 - $121,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
