Director, Human Resources Business Partner
Job Summary
The Director, Human Resources Business Partner, serves as a strategic advisor to leaders, translating business priorities into people strategies that strengthen organizational effectiveness, workforce capability, employee engagement and leadership performance. This role applies strong business literacy, sound judgment and enterprise perspective to anticipate workforce needs, influence talent decisions, resolve complex people matters and mitigate organizational risk.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a strategic HR advisor to senior leadership, aligning people strategies with business priorities, operating goals and organizational objectives.
- Builds trusted partnerships with leaders by applying business insight, workforce data and sound judgment to anticipate and address people-related opportunities and risks.
- Advise and coach leaders on complex employee relations matters, ensuring objective investigations, consistent decision-making and appropriate risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to shape and influence integrated solutions across total rewards, talent acquisition, talent development, succession planning, leave management and performance management.
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, staffing strategies and headcount governance to ensure resources align with business needs and approved plans.
- Monitor employment law, regulatory requirements and HR best practices to support compliance, consistency and proactive issue resolution across assigned business areas.
- Identify emerging HR trends, technologies and operating improvements, translating insights into practical recommendations that strengthen leader effectiveness and business outcomes.
- Lead or support HR and business projects as needed.
Leadership
- Provides strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for team, including coaching, prioritization, performance feedback and capability development.
- Influences senior leaders through credible counsel, clear recommendations and balanced consideration of business objectives, employee experience and organizational risk.
- Ability to lead cross-functional HR initiatives and change efforts that require alignment across business leaders, HR Centers of Excellence, Finance and Legal.
- Sets expectations for disciplined execution, strong follow-through and consistent communication across complex HR priorities.
- Builds leadership capability by coaching leaders through organizational design, talent decisions, employee relations matters and performance management challenges.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion and executive presence when advising on sensitive, high-impact people matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive human resources experience required, including strategic HR partnership, employee relations, talent management and leadership advisory experience.
- SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification are strongly preferred.
