Job Summary:
We are seeking a Mechanic Intern to join our Equipment team. In this role, you will gain invaluable real-world experience working alongside experienced mechanics and technicians, learning to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers. This program is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to equipment maintenance operations, helping you build a strong technical foundation for a future career in the construction and equipment industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Support: Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work on company equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Observe and participate in diagnosing equipment issues, learning to identify problems and develop solutions under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Preventative Maintenance: Help perform preventative maintenance tasks to support optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Documentation: Assist in maintaining equipment-related reports, maintenance logs, and metrics.
- Compliance & Safety: Learn and follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements related to equipment operation and maintenance.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with mechanics, equipment managers, and field staff to support equipment division goals.
- Process Improvement: Participate in identifying opportunities to improve maintenance and repair processes.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a relevant degree or technical program (Diesel/Heavy Equipment Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Construction Management, or related field), or high school diploma/equivalent with strong interest in the field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced, hands-on setting.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Comfortable working in outdoor/field and shop environments.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
