JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting in the performance of routine manual labor activities involving the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Town streets, parks, facilities, rights-of-way, and other public infrastructure as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an entry level maintenance and operations classification in the in the maintenance and operations job family where basic tasks and assignments requiring little or no previous training or experience are performed. This is the first classification in a career progression or the terminal level for positions with very basic and/or limited duties. Work is designed to provide initial experience and training under direct supervision.ESSENTIAL DUTIES

High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.

- Performs litter control and grounds maintenance of Town parks, recreational areas, facilities, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other assigned Town-owned properties.
- Performs landscaping activities including mowing, pruning, planting, fertilizing, watering, weed control, and irrigation maintenance.
- Performs janitorial services and routine facility maintenance including cleaning, inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs of Town buildings and facilities.
- Inspects, maintains, and performs minor repairs to park amenities including playground equipment, picnic tables, benches, fencing, and related infrastructure.
- Operates light to medium equipment and hand and power tools in the maintenance of parks, grounds, and facilities.
- Performs hazard inspections and assists in maintaining safe conditions for employees and the public.
- Responds to work orders, maintenance requests, emergency response activities, seasonal operations, and special events as assigned.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Provide support for special events, including setting up barricades; hauling and setting up stage; clean up following event.

- Methods, materials, procedures and standard practices of street repair, including concrete and asphalt repair, removal and replacement

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License
Required to Obtain within a Specified Period of Time:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications – 6 months
- OSHA 10 Certification – 6 months
