The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and maintaining software components that extend and integrate with the Switch platform. The role involves developing scalable Node.js services, building modern React.js user interfaces, collaborating with the C++ core engineering team, and contributing to the overall architecture, performance, and quality of the product. The engineer will also provide technical guidance, participate in design discussions, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices across the team.
In This Role, a Typical Day Will Include
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions by translating business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and well-tested implementations.
- Develop and enhance backend services using Node.js that integrate seamlessly with the Switch C++ core and workflow engine.
- Build and maintain responsive, intuitive user interfaces using React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
- Design modular, extensible, and plugin-based software components while contributing to architectural discussions and technical design decisions.
- Develop features related to workflow automation, file processing, metadata handling, and integration with third-party applications and cloud services.
- Troubleshoot complex functional and performance issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolutions across Node.js services, frontend components, and interactions with the C++ backend.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability through profiling, refactoring, and adherence to engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, QA, Customer Support, and the C++ engineering team to understand customer requirements, investigate production issues, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions, ensuring compliance with coding standards, secure coding practices, and maintainable software architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering excellence.

- Maintaining and enhancing software applications, including bug fixes, updates, and feature enhancements
- Collaborating effectively with developers, testers, and project managers to drive successful delivery
- Staying current with industry trends, tools, and technologies
- Providing technical support, including troubleshooting, user guidance, and knowledge sharing
- Documenting development processes, including design decisions, testing outcomes, and maintenance activities
- Identifying and driving adoption of new tools, frameworks, and processes across the SDLC
- Mentoring and enabling the team through knowledge sharing and best practice adoption
Professional knowledge
- Qualifications & Technical Expertise
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise software or backend systems.
- Strong programming expertise in (mandatory) Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Working knowledge of C++ with the ability to understand, debug, and integrate with native C++ applications is highly desirable.
- Experience working with large-scale, modular, or plugin-based software systems.
- Good understanding of database design with SQL and/or NoSQL, MongoDB.
Frontend Experience
- Hands-on experience with React.js for developing configuration interfaces and user-facing components.
- Familiarity with modern UI development practices and component-based design.
- Experience with Angular or Vue.js is a plus.
Core Technical Skills
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with experience investigating issues across multiple technology stacks.
- Experience with performance optimization skills, including memory leak detection, profiling, and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with working C++ concepts is desirable.
- Proficiency in version control systems like Git or Perforce.
- Strong CI/CD experience using Jenkins
- Hands-on experience with Mac and Windows environments
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, JSON, and asynchronous communication.
- Experience with workflow-driven systems or automation pipelines
Development Practices & Tools
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, design patterns, and best practices
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
- Familiarity with tools like JIRA, GitHub, etc.
- Awareness and usage of modern AI tools to enhance productivity and quality
