Care Logistics is seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior Interface Engineer to join our Integrated Solutions team. This role leads the design, development, delivery, and support of complex hospital system interfaces, and serves as a technical resource and mentor within the interface engineering team. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless integration across clinical, operational, and digital systems, contributing to improved patient care and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with HL7 messaging, interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody), and healthcare IT systems, will thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, and will bring sound judgment to complex, ambiguous integration challenges.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead collaboration with internal teams and client stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver complex interface solutions supporting hospital operations and clinical workflows.
- Critically evaluate gathered information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, relate high level information to details, and distinguish user requests from underlying business problems/needs.
- Design and oversee interface architecture and integration strategy for complex or high-visibility projects.
- Develop and execute interface test plans to validate code developed by Care Logistics and customer interface resources, and review the work of other interface engineers.
- Lead integration interviews and discussions with internal teams and external customers.
- Serve as an escalation point to troubleshoot and resolve complex interface issues in development, test, and production environments.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level interface engineers.
- Lead go-live support and post-implementation optimization efforts.
- Develop and maintain internal and external documentation, including interface design guides and flow diagrams, and help establish best practices and standards for the team.
- Lead transition-to-support processes and knowledge transfer to the support team.
- Contribute to the evaluation of new tools, technologies, and process improvements for interface engineering.
- After hours on-call support.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 6-8+ years of experience in interface development, preferably in healthcare IT.
- Advanced proficiency in HL7 standards and interface engines (Rhapsody preferred), and JavaScript.
- Proven experience with FHIR standards and FHIR integrations.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading other engineers and leading client-facing engagements.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation and communication skills.
- Extensive experience with Agile methodologies and change management.
- Ability to work independently and lead collaborative efforts in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency with all Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel skills.
PREFERRED
- Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
- Rhapsody certified.
- 5+ years experience with JavaScript.
- 5+ years experience interfacing ADTs, Order Entry, Radiology Orders and Scheduling messages.
- Deep comfort with a hospital's operational flow (i.e., Patient Points of Entry for Admission, Processes for Transfer and Discharge of a Patient, as well as Order Entry flow).
- Proficiency with SQL for database research purposes.
- XML, XSD, JSON experience.
- Advanced knowledge of hospital operations and clinical workflows.
- Experience contributing to interface engineering standards, governance, or architecture review.
